OniEliteZ
Hello all, My name is Aaron age 25 and I am certainly not as full of myself as the title suggests, however I am feeling myself channelling Kelsier (Secret History). Anyways, some more about me to prevent myself appearing too 2D (yes i reread that awkwardly too but hey) I am from the UK specifically English, but that special kind of English where I was raised in Scotland and neither country really wants me haha. I am currently settled in Lincoln, England; home of one the four remaining copes of the Magna Carta (#SmarterEveryDay). My adventure into the life of Fantasy fiction started, like many with Tolkien. I read his main 4 from a reasonably young age, and after several rereads and a growing interest in the genre, I tackled the Silmarillion and other works. This is what I think finally got me committed to the genre and when I began reading more frequently again some years later, I started delving into new worlds in Fantasy. This all came to a head when I remembered a friend from Uni suggesting the Wheel of Time and my life changed after that point. My kindle became more important than my wallet and phone, and I never believed I would consume so much content in such a short time and still be hungry for new worlds. After a brief foray through the Belgariad and the Mallorean I started my reread of WoT, really savouring it and delving into Fan rereads and theories. Sanderson's amazing work finishing the series brought me to Mistborn and in no time I find myself standing here (finishing A Secret History) and knowing I want to absorb everything the Cosmere has to offer. This my good people brings me to the crucial question and my purpose for coming to the forums. Which series do I tackle next? This thread is long winded (I had time to spare) and certainly hopes to aim me towards fan recommendations, but I will absolutely be reading all books linked to the Cosmere. Aaron, OniEliteZ, Newbie to Scadrial.
TeleWorms
Hey!, Welcome to the Shard! I started with The Stormlight Archive, which was an absolutely glorious series to start with. If you want to read in chronological order, Elantris is the starting point and a good book to boot. It's your choice, but I'd recommend SA, Elantris, or maybe Warbreaker (Though I didn't read it until recently, so I don't know). Anyway, have an upvote, and some key advice: Do not, under any circumstances, eat the cookies. -Worms
Tesh Any pronouns
@OniEliteZ I would suggest reading SA, Warbreaker, then Elantris. Which Mistborn book is your favorite?
Calderis he/him
I agree with @Tesh Kholin, only in reverse order. Elantris and Warbreaker are both quick, stand alone reads that will add some depth and variety to the Cosmere. In addition, if you keep your eyes open after reading them, a character from each shows up disguised in the existing Stormlight books. You won't catch them unless your paying very, very close attention, but they're there. Remember that though the stories are separate, the world's are interconnected. There's much more depth than is at first apparent, and to quote Kelsier, "There's always another secret."
StrikerEZ he/him
Hey, welcome to the Shard! Have an upvote and a spiked delicious cookie! Spoiler DISCLAIMER: Side effects include, but are not limited to, hearing voices, gaining supernatural powers, having the sudden urge to kill everyone, and completely losing control over your mind and body. The Dark Alley™ claims no liability for any damage done to/by the eater of this cookie. Okay, I started reading Brandon Sanderson a couple years ago after my middle school librarian recommended Steelheart to me. Man, I loved that series. Anyway, after that, I read The Rithmatist, another really good book (What'd you expect? It's Sanderson), and then I forgot about him for a few years until right before the start of this year, when I was bored and searched up stuff about The Reckoners and found this website. I joined for The Reckoners, then discovered the Cosmere, and devoured the first Mistborn trilogy. After that, I read Elantris, Warbreaker, White Sand (which is a graphic novel), all of the short stories from Arcanum Unbounded that were not set on Scadrial/Roshar (the world of The Stormlight Archive), Mistborn Era 2 (Wax and Wayne), Secret History (from Arcanum Unbounded), and finally, The Stormlight Archive. You don't have to read it in that order, but I recommend reading SA last. Like @Calderis said, there's so many hints and secrets to the Cosmere in that book, I'd recommend reading it last so you can (attempt to) catch those secrets as you read. For the rest of the Cosmere books, I don't really recommend any order, just pick and choose which ones you think you'll like best!

For me, everything about Sazed and TenSoon made for amazing character arcs and the ending was just right (Expected of Sanderson). I will say however I love Wayne and I never really knew what to expect from him at any given moment. Spoiler Apart from the age difference, he and MeLaan are perfect for each other. 4 hours ago, StrikerEZ said: Hey, welcome to the Shard! Have an upvote and a spiked delicious cookie! I was always told not to take things from strangers, however, considering I now know you then I guess it can't hurt... Oh wait hemalurgically baked? I'm sorry, I am actually allergic; horrible tainted piercing a few years back. Thanks anyway =] For everyone, thanks for the welcome and the advise on the various series. I think I will leave SA til last as it sounds like there are some hidden gems in there. Edited July 3, 2017 by OniEliteZ Grammar

Paracosmic_nomenclator
I'd recommend Warbreaker, followed by Stormlight Archive, then Elantris, then Arcanum Unbounded (the short story collection). However if you're savoring the books, or just read slowly, I'd reccomend saving Stormlight for last, as the third book is coming out in November, and you might be able to get it right after you finish the first two. Also, welcome to the shard! I just joined myself, and I've enjoyed it so far. I hope you do too!
