Intersting comment by Peter on the release of the book: "Peter Ahlstrom: From now until November they'll be releasing about a third of the book online"

So looks like we will get to read a good chunk of it! Unless you are Josh or Mi'ch and have read the whole book already

Mi'ch was hoping we would get Chapter Two to release on 17S, but I don't know if that's happening or not. I haven't been informed of anything like that.

Could Bloody Tan have been burning Atium? Does Atium even exist anymore? I'm fuzzy about the end of Mistborn. Does Ruin get his body back before Vin takes him down? I can't remember. Since the mist is still around, if only intermittently, I feel like some Atium could be kicking around as well.

Oh yeah, and MARSH. Can't believe that didn't occur to me. Thank goodness there's a forum full of people with better memories than mine xD

Brandon said Sazed had no plans to release any of the atium anytime soon. He said it effectively became something of myth and legend. That doesn't rule it out, per se, it just makes it very, very hard to obtain. All those aspects of both Shards--lerasium, atium, the Shards' pools (the Well of Ascension and Ruin's pool), Preservation mist, Ruin mist--still exist, they are just directly controlled by Sazed. They are extensions of his will now.

Here's basically what happened at the end of Hero of Ages. Elend and the atium Mistings burned all the atium away. That power "went away" for a while, but the atium does regenerate. It's like the Well of Ascension: the power can be used, and it comes back later, but until it does regenerate, no one can use it. Thus, Ruin was extremely displeased to see the atium go away. He did not metabolize it, and thus did not have the strength to overcome Preservation (whose power was, overall, lesser than Ruin's, due to the bit of Preservation that is inside humans. Without the atium, Ruin and Preservation were equal, but once Ruin would get it back, it's game over). With Ruin and Preservation still equal, then, Vin could take Ruin down.

So the atium would slowly regenerate, and Sazed can metabolize it and get that power back. All it takes is time.

Oh marvelous! Okay. So it's possible that there is a bit of Atium somewhere, but Sazed would definitely not let in fall into the hands of someone like Bloody Tan.

Also, would that mean that for the moment, Preservation's power in Sazed is more than Ruin's? Also that, once all of Ruin's body regenerates, Ruin would be more influential than Preservation? Hmm. Interesting implications.

Well, it doesn't really matter which is stronger, since his mind can separate the two powers. It wouldn't matter unless he, you know, died.

I tend to disagree. I believe that Sazed is/will be somewhat tainted by the difference in the powers, and that may result in people like or dear mortician. But I do think it is a bit soon- I didn't expect to see any taint until the 2nd or even 3rd trilogy.

Well, okay, you have a point. It depends how quick the Shard intent molding effect takes. If it took millennia for Ruin and Preservation to get to this level, I think Sazed would take quite a bit longer than that. So not anytime soon, if at all. I guess it could happen, though.
