Can't believe I'm here

Hi everyone

I'm happy to say that i've been bonded by a spren known as 'Love for Stormlight archive' which is forcing me to make my oaths by signing up on this forum. 

Fanboyism aside. I had read some standalone Sanderson works a few years back (Elantris and Warbreaker) in  between reading Brent Weeks novels. I'm relatively new to fantasy.

Reading mistborn trilogy was on my list but I kept seeing WoK mentioned everywhere with Sanderson. So just on a whim, I started WoK, expecting it to be similar to Elantris and Warbreaker and am I glad that I was wrong.

It pulled me in like the first time I read Epic fantasy. I started WoR as soon as I put WoK down. I've also read edgedancer and checked out some of the lore for the cosmere. Unfortunately, this came with some mistborn spoilers but oh well.

And thats how i discovered the 17th shard. Looking forward to having interesting discussions with other fans.

Anyway, welcome to the site! I'm glad you enjoyed Stormlight. What was spoiled for you about the Mistborn series? (Also, who did that, because I want to go find them and Ruin their day)

Good to have your here! As someone who was introduced to Branderson by friends, I feel your pain about spoilers. While trying to get me to read Mistborn, they ended up spoiling several Major Plot Points™ as well as the ending of Hero of Ages (the third book in era 1).

Anyways, have an upvote and some info on a few things that confused me when I started.

1. A "WOB" means a Word of Brandon, which is a quote or answer he has provided us

2. Upvotes can be given using the up and down arrows in the bottom right corner of a post. Don't touch the downvote button - It is bad. Upvotes are given in introductions, and for especially witty, agreeable, or creative content.

3. The title beneath your name (next to a little grey or orange dot) is your rank. (You should be a Darkeyes or Spren now.) You rank up by receiving upvotes.

4. Ask around for the nearest dark alley if you're ever hungry. The people there have a seemingly endless supply of cookies.

The spoilers for mistborn were similar to yours. The ending and some revelations about the shards were spoiled.

And I am highly excited about Oathbringer. Will definitely try to attend a signing.

And btw that spren was unexpected and I didn't get the luxury of choosing a name for it. It just happened

I completely get finishing WoK and reading WoR the day after. A good friend of mine had WoR checked out from the library, so the day I finished WoK, I went over there, and got it from her. So glad I did. Best books EVER!!! And welcome to the shard. Have some pie.

That's interesting actually. I really should get a cosmere name. I guess it could just be my username or maybe come up with a meaningful name. Or does it have to be an existing character.

No, it does not have to be an existing character. Tesh is just someone I have made up in my free time. I become her in my head when I am bored. You might want to check out Do you have a random person in the Cosmere who you turn into when you are bored? I'm pretty sure it's under the Stormlight Archives forms. I created it if that helps. But that will answer your question more fully. And it's honestly pretty interesting.
