I'll just get right down to business. (I just had this thought) What if every magic system, was just a branch of something bigger? What if aons, surgebindings, breaths, and the ability's of an allomancer, are all from the same power source, but just accessed in a different way, unique to a shard, that makes the power react differently.

Thoughts?

If this doesn't make any scence, (I can't spell to save my life) or needs to be clarified, please tell me.

And i will make edits as required. ;)

Well in the end it's all part of Adonalsium's shattered power, so in the end it is definitely all investiture. However, the power is from the Shards, and the investiture is unique to the Shard it came from, not the planet.

Investiture, as a whole, is the same across the Cosmere. It gets "filtered" differently on different worlds and in different magic systems.

But I don't really consider that as an overarching magic system so much as a universal magic fuel.

So not really a part of something bigger, but its all from the same source.

As everyone else has already said. The investiture is indeed a common source.

The magic systems themselves developed completely independent of one another as a reaction between the investiture of the individual Shards, and the magical focus, which is specific to the planet. Metal on Scadrial, commands/intent for Nalthis, Forms for Sel.

So your answer is both yes and no. Yes for the reason behind the magic itself, and no for the mechanics of the magic.

Wasn't there a thread just like that last week? I'll go look for it.

...
It was your thread!

Why are you making another thread for the same thing?
