retrorocket1
So I was skimming through WoK and came across this quote between Dalinar and wit at the end of page 751 of the hardcover book. Quote "Wait, you're leaving?" "I must, I hope to return. I'll do so if I'm not killed. Probably will anyway. Apologize for your nephew for me." Now I am wondering has Wit ever died before? We know it is possible to come back from the dead we have examples both inside and outside the Stormlight Archive, but it never occurred to me that Wit might have experienced death. This might also be why Wit tells Jasnah that her sword wouldn't do much to him. On a side note I kind of wonder what Wit would think of Nightblood. Any thoughts? Yata
To answer to this question I have to go a bit beyond Stormlight Archive but I will try to remain in the series. Wit has one of the best Cosmere's self-Healing ability (for now he is the best, but we can't know if there is something better than his Healing). He wasn't afraid of the Shardblade as he could easily Heal his Soul after the Blade's cut (this is not something unhearded as also the Stormlight's healing could do this). The fact is we don't know the Ability's source so it's hard to say what his limits are. Using Nightblood to attack him would require a lot of Investiture to Heal but I personally don't think it will be enough to finish off. The fact is Nightblood cuts into all the Three Realms and while we know someone could heal from Physical and Spiritual wounds...we don't know if the Cognitive wounds could be healed. Vissy
Hoid has been stated to be the most powerful non-shardic entity IIRC, so I wouldn't be surprised if he could die and just continue on Hoiding as if nothing had happened.
Farnsworth
I think this quote would indicate that the killing of Hoid is rather difficult Quote Interview: Mar 4th, 2014 WoR Signing Report - Pinpoint (Paraphrased) Pinpoint If Hoid got beheaded, would his body grow a new head? Brandon Sanderson Yes. Pinpoint What if Hoid got cut by a shardblade? Brandon Sanderson The Shardblade cuts the soul and what Hoid does heals the soul. Nightblood was an imitation of a shardblade, so I think nightblood could not kill Hoid.
Weltall
@Figberts Nightblood has been described as 'orders of magnitude' more powerful than a Shardblade so we can't necessarily rule out its ability to harm Hoid just because it was patterned after something we know wouldn't permanently harm him. That said, in a hypothetical matchup of all Brandon's protagonists he remarked that because Hoid is 'really really really hard to kill' he'd be one of the last two left standing and then things would get weird. And since he specifically included Vasher in his ultimate answer after taking Hoid out of the running, we can speculate that Brandon thinks Nightblood couldn't kill Hoid, because otherwise there would have been no reason to remove him from consideration in the first place.
