LordJuss Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 I'm slightly confused about the status of Nilto and was hoping someone could shed some light on it. In the graphic novel Nilto is introduced to Khriss as one of the Taishin and given the title Lord Beggar. However, the Lady Judge clearly talks about there being seven professions in addition to the Sand Masters and later on we see Khriss visit each of them. They are: The Lady Judge The Lord General The Lord Admiral The Lord Merchant The Lord Farmer The Lord Artisan The Lord Mason The Lord Mastrell None of these are the Lord Beggar. So how does Nilto fit in? Is the Lord Beggar title ironic? Is he part of the Taishin but not one of the eight leaders? Am I being dim? Thoughts appreciated. Thanks, LJ.
WeiryWriter he/him Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 Lord Beggar isn't technically an official title, and so isn't actually part of the Council of Taishin. It's mostly a title Nilto has made for himself, to show that his influence and power are comparable to the Taishin, but they do not recognize him officially. 1
Modal Seoul he/him Posted March 9, 2017 Posted March 9, 2017 Also, I don't think it would look good if the Taishin had a lord who looks like the result from an encounter between the Mummy and Bizarro. They need that public image, man!
Farnsworth Posted March 17, 2017 Posted March 17, 2017 The Lord Beggar is kind of a joke term. Everyone knows that it's not a real title, but because there are so many thieves, they need a lord.
