Vax?

I don't know if this has already been posted, but I have a theory about Vax that I think might be new. What if it's a gas giant? Scadrial's Cognitive Realm is made of mist, so it would probably look similar to the atmosphere of a gas giant (I think. I'm a writer, not a scientist). Maybe Ati/Ruin has been to Vax before, and thought that he had appeared there after his death (hence his apparent confusion). I know that there's some scientific issues with living on a gas giant, but honestly, if anyone can write a fantasy novel set on one, it would be Brandon Sanderson.

as you said, there are scientific issues with living on a gas giant. the first one is that, while a gas  giant has an atmosphere that may resemble mist, it does not have a surface. so a person on it would just sink into the atmosphere until he's cooked by the rising temperature or crushed by the pressure, whichever comes first. The second is that gases are stratified by density in those planets, and when you arrive at the oxygen layer - which would be required to support people - the pressure is already high enough to kill. There is also no liquid water on those planets, though there is plenty of water vapor - but the same thing about stratification and pressure applies.

Then there are the facts that all gas giants have extremely caotic atmospheres with winds that make terrestrial hurricanes look like gentle breezes, and that those planets emit letal doses of radiations, just off the top of my head.

I doubt even sanderson could make it work in a believable way.

If you've got active Shardic presence, I think a Cloud-City-like setup would definitely be possible. Silence Divine reading, I think it was, had cities floating over a world covered in lava. Shards have strong influences on weather phenomena (mists in Mistborn, highstorms in SA), so a Shard 'terraforming' and protecting a region of stability inside a gas giant doesn't seem too far out to me.

And I don't think it even breaks the top 10 weirdest theories for what Vax is.

Maybe Vax is the place where Ruin & Preservation were before to go together to create Scadrial.

It's possible that Vax is a misty place and R&P made Scadrial like that because they liked Vax

Or maybe they coalesced Vax the gas giant into the rocky planet Scadrial. They needed to get the mass somewhere.

Investiture may become Energy/Matter and Vax is a place with his own Magic System and exist in the same time with Scadrial.

It's impossible that Vax is a "Pre-Scadrial"

Ah, gotcha. Haven't looked through the new edition of Elantris yet.

Sorry man, I forgot the reference  :(

in tag spoiler I will post the part with Vax's reference... It's far to be a real Spoiler, because in the end it just some lines of "I don't know".

But this isn't the right section of the Forum therefore the Spoiler Tag are needed.

Spoiler from Elantris 10th anniversary

How, then, is a practitioner of AonDor Initiated? It does not appear to be tied to family descent, as one finds on Scadrial, nor is it a specific Shard’s Decision, as on Nalthis. Even Taldain’s and Vax’s methods do not seem to apply here.
