Straw he/him Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 The purpose of this thread is for a person to post a quote and the people below them try to guess where the quote is from. To start us off: "I would die for my country.... but I would rather kill for it."
Mailliw73 he/him Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 Taniel or Tamas. I can't remember which.
Eagle of the Forest Path he/him Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 Since not everyone has read every book in existence, I suggest including a title or franchise in the answers.
Straw he/him Posted March 12, 2016 Author Posted March 12, 2016 Taniel or Tamas. I can't remember which. Unorthodox, but you are correct. Post your own quote soon!
Bugsy he/him Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 (edited) Mistborn (TFE) If these are from any book series: I would have lived in peace, but my enemies brought me war (Hint: look at my location or profile image) If it has to be Sanderson: "I ain't grouchy," ____ snapped. "I just have a low threshold for stupidity." Edited April 4, 2016 by Bugsy6912
IndigoAjah he/him Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 The latter is Teft from Stormlight Archive, I think WoR. I don't know the former :/
Young Bard he/him Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 (edited) Mistborn (TFE) If these are from any book series: I would have lived in peace, but my enemies brought me war (Hint: look at my location or profile image) If it has to be Sanderson: "I ain't grouchy," ____ snapped. "I just have a low threshold for stupidity." Not that I've actually read it (yet), but I think the profile image is from Red Rising? I happened to do a bit of research on it with the Sevro/Darrow Cage Match that happened recently. Assuming I'm right : "Is this real? Or has this been happening inside my head?" "Of course it's happening inside your head, [name], but why on earth should that mean that it isn't real?" Edited April 17, 2016 by The Young Bard
IndigoAjah he/him Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 (edited) Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, just after a ridiculous chull pull by the author "But here's some advice, boy. Don't put your trust in revolutions. They always come around again. That's why they're called revolutions." Edited April 17, 2016 by IndigoAjah
Eagle of the Forest Path he/him Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 Sam Vimes in Night Watch by Terry Pratchett. "Not only are there no happy endings,' she told him, 'there aren't even any endings."
Bugsy he/him Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 Sam Vimes in Night Watch by Terry Pratchett. "Not only are there no happy endings,' she told him, 'there aren't even any endings." I know this quote, but I don't remember where from... It had something to do with mythology, I think... (Great, now I'll never be able to get to sleep )
IndigoAjah he/him Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 It's American Gods by Neil Gaiman, can't remember who says it though.
Eagle of the Forest Path he/him Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 (edited) That's correct. The quote is made by Bast, when Shadow's dead on the tree. Your turn, Indigo. Edited April 18, 2016 by EagleOfTheForestPath
IndigoAjah he/him Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 "Only priests and fools are fearless and I've never been on the best of terms with God."
aeromancer he/him Posted April 19, 2016 Posted April 19, 2016 (edited) Why do I think that's Balthier from FFXII? EDIT: It's not, but it is something he would say. Edited April 19, 2016 by aeromancer
Curiosity he/him Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 Kvothe Kingkiller. Name of the Wind, I believe? 1
Curiosity he/him Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 "We are men of action. Lies do not become us."
Eagle of the Forest Path he/him Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 The Princess Bride. "Nothing gives a fearful man more courage than another's fear."
Eagle of the Forest Path he/him Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 Since no-one seems to be answering, I'll reveal that the above quote comes from "The Name of the Rose", by Umberto Eco. I'll give an easier one next. "Never say you're sorry. It's a sign of weakness."
Matrim Bloody Cauthon he/him Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 john wayne? I believe it is also said on NCIS occasionally.
Eagle of the Forest Path he/him Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 Blood and ashes! A reply! Both answers are correct, so take it away, Mat.
Matrim Bloody Cauthon he/him Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 He's gonna think of something. Remember that time I got the letter from my wife saying that she wanted to break up with me? Huh? Remember what ***** did? He got your wife back? No, he got me another wife! A better wife!
