I just had an interesting one. Not necessarily a misting, but what about a guy who has a hemalurgic sword impaled through his heart that he can pull out and use to steal the powers of whoever he kills last. I know that's not quite how hemalurgy works (specific metals steal a specific power), but you could probably get away with saying the sword has every metal in a row, with the softer metals in the middle so it doesn't warp as easily.

Wouldn't pulling it out kill him?

Wouldn't pulling it out kill him?

well, as I said, that's not exactly how hemalurgy works, but I liked the idea of it. Besides, death by unsheathing excluded, having a sword in your chest generate its own set of problems already.

there are a couple workarounds, like having the sword be a few inches to the right, or having him resheath it before it expires (heart wounds are not instantly fatal, what kills you is the bleeding out + no oxygen flow.

alternatively, it could work something like this

A tin misting, with zinc spike would make an amazing sherlock holmes character, though it'd be better if it was a zinc twinborn and tin spike. Also, the body rearranges itself around the spikes, like how the inquisitors have spikes through where their hearts and eyes should be, but still survive. Marsh also stated in one of his POVs that brain reformed around the eye spikes. Though pulling out the sword would kill you, and different powers have different bindpoints.

I figured it wouldn't work.

Um . . . doesn't everything need different bind points?

Okay, okay....... you got me. I slept through hemalurgy class. To be fair though, all they were talking about before I drifted off was something about cookies.

The heart does get used for stealing a lot, which causes misunderstandings a lot, but in actuality the heart simply has many points on it for stealing. Depending on where exactly you run them through you can get different stuff with the appropriate metal.

Binding to another person also requires the correct spot as well. Otherwise you'll just stab yourself like an idiot. There's probably more than one way to do it, with different results too. Spiritual gene splicing is tricky business. I doubt normal stolen steel gives steelsight this sensitive, for one, and koloss spikes don't pair like kandra ones.

Actually, nothing comes to mind for me in other magics besides breath and nahel bonds/dead shardblade bonds that can logically stolen, and stealing breath just seems silly. The nahel bond will probably break immediately since you kinda just went against Journey Before Destination, so that leaves shardblades.

which does beg the question..... Why can't harmony just give a guy the same power as the Lord Ruler? Seems like wax would have a much easier time of things.....

Giving one person massive amounts of power upsets balances, deprives people of making the optimal number of choices for themselves.  Against Harmony's MO.

spoiler for BoM

And remember wax could have gotten the power but didn't want to want to, Bands of Mourning

I'd go for either a coinshot courier, because honestly, who doesn't want flight and telekinesis, even if it is limited to pushing metal? Plus imagine the places the job would take him. Or being a pewterarm construction worker, the company would pay for him to become a savant! Not to mention the job security. I also like the idea of a less exciting story that follows an average(for a misting) Joe about his day, and maybe the stuff he gets pulled into doing as result of his abilities.

Also I'll like to see how would look like in mistborn modern day era some special police team that consists of mistings.

That's up next after Brandon finishes the Wax and Wayne trilogy, or rather the next trilogy is going to be a sortof 80's spy series.

What about a chromium Misting? Shakes your hand, you have no metals.

Actually, this could be used in some sort of sporting event.

Chromium Mistings would be part of anti-drug commitee at sport events. Along with Coinshots/Lurchers to check whether you have metalminds on you...

Damnation, how would you check whether a Feruchemist has swallowed a metalmind? It would be unaffected by Leechers and undetectable by metalsight.

Give them

BoM spoilers

Medallions for every Allomantic metal, then Leech them. No more metalminds. Hope they didn't have anything too important in them.

You're missing the end spoiler tag.

Tin savant assassin would be fun too.
