calamity Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Alcatraz really does break everything he touches. He even breaks the laws of gravity in the third big picture, in his room with the social worker, where a sock is hanging off his dresser and should clearly fall. What a terrifying curse indeed.
hafje Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 I'm still waiting for the day he really breaks Gravity to save himself (as was hinted in the third book). Now that I'm thinking about it, I love how much foreshadowing for later books there is in this series.
Stormgate he/him Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 He could break friendships. He could break relationships. He could break the Fourth Wall. I realize that he makes fun of the fact it is a book, but if someone in that situation broke the Fourth Wall... Wow. What if he breaks a dawn? Or breaks silence? Or breaks bad? 3
Sunbird she/her Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 What if he breaks a dawn? Or breaks silence? Or breaks bad? 2
ChickenPlague he/him Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 I wonder... can he Break Death Itself? Judging by that gun in Shattered Lens that broke and started firing by itself, that would be a bad idea.
Runyan Firetree Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 I wonder... can he Break Death Itself? I think he could but maybe not directly. All talents seem to be derivatives of the breaking talent, and Grandpa Smedry's ability allowed him to arrive late to things including his own death. That being said, the first Alcatraz either couldn't prevent his death or chose not to, but had enough power to break time around his final resting place before dying.
Mark Adrian Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 You probably couldn't break death. To avoid death, you'd have to use the opposite of Breaking, Fixing Things. You could use that to resurrect the dead. Also if you were dying you could fix yourself.
