VirtuousTraveller Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 As I've read through the Wax and Wayne series of Mistborn, the Set jumps out at me as a similar organization to the Ghostbloods. Especially in seeing that the Set is involved with off world affairs (i.e. it's own group of immortal beings), it seems like an interesting parallel if nothing else. The only snag in this theory is the ending of BoM: The Set's Immortal Being seems to express that they are no longer interested in using the Set at all on Scadrial, opting instead to destroy Suit and possibly the entire organization. Blow this theory apart if you can - it's just been on my mind since AoL! =)
PallonianFire he/him Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 (edited) The impression I got is that the Set is a Scadrial-specific part of a larger worldhopping group called the Series. I don't have my copy of BoM on me right now, so I don't have the specific quote, but I remember mention of the Series implying it was higher up in the organization. Stormgate he/him Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 The Series might be the original organization that destroyed Adonalsium. Emphasis on might. I like to blow things up. Like you do on Google Maps, not Mythbusters.
DreamEternal Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 The ghostbloods appear to have southern Scadrians among their ranks, so I find unlikely they would have to reverse engineer an airship.
KidWayne he/him Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 (edited) My impression was that the Series was the governing body of the Set. The Set itself uses a lot of mathematical terms for groups as titles/ranks (series, set, sequence, etc.) I think the Set may have connections to the Svrakiss on Sel. See the WoB below: Question: Miles Hundredlives, is he possessed by a svrakiss from Elantris? Brandon Sanderson: *long pause* That's a RAFO, you are onto something... I wouldn't say possessed, but influenced by something is definitely a possibility. You are not 100% on. --Salt Lake City Comic-Con 2014 Edited February 16, 2016 by KidWayne
