Aluminum has been shown to have a generally neutralizing effect on Investiture, from being resistant to Pushes/Pulls to serving as a visible Coppercloud (neutralizing emotional and Bronze Allomancy) as well as having no atium shadow and wiping all a Mistborn's metals. So what would happen if you were to put something (a clock for the purpose) inside an aluminum-lined box and put up a speed bubble where the box was inside the bubble?

I theorize that the clock would be immune to the time-distorting affects of the bubble. Thus, I propose that Sliders and Pulsers will very enthusiastically buy aluminum clocks to keep the right time.

I realize that we are getting into wibbly-wobbly bubbly-wubbly stuff here.

Well, it stands to reason that if the slider / pulser was inside the box, the clock would be distorted. Now I wonder what would happen to a clock with some gears made of aluminum and some regular...

Don't we have a quote somewhere that an Item is either in or out of a speed bubble? That an Item(defined by/in the cognitive realm), must be considered a part of a speed bubble or outside one? So that /if/ an Item would be excluded because of Aluminium, then the entire object would be.

Also, pretty sure that in Alloy of Law, one of the characters had an Aluminium gun/knife(Someone back me up? I lent my copy out to a friend) inside a bubble and nothing untoward happened.

Edit: Found it:

Kurkistan: If you are standing inside of a time bubble, and throw a spear out of the bubble, what happens to that spear as it traverses the border of the bubble? Are different parts of the spear ever in different "time zones," going fundamentally different speeds?

On that line of reasoning, what would happen to a train and its occupants if Marisi stood next to railroad tracks holding up a Cadmium bubble while that train sped by?

Brandon: In general, a large object going through a time bubble is not going to notice. An object is either in or out, and it depends in part on how the object views itself. People inside the train would be inside of its influence, and wouldn't notice the bubble. The spear would go from one to the other, but would never be in both.

I'm having trouble finding a quote that explicitly expresses that Wayne was carrying a piece of aluminum while inside a time bubble, but I think it's reasonable to assume that aluminum follows the general time bubble rules.

If aluminum were immune to time bubbles then a pulser wearing aluminum armor could freeze people in a bubble around them while moving at normal speed, and aluminum bullets entering a slider's bubble would move at a glacial pace.  I don't know if we have enough information to thoroughly disprove the theory, but it just strikes me as bad physics.

It seems more likely to me that if a Pulser is in aluminum armor and they put up a speed bubble, they would be frozen and not anyone around them.

The Aluminum bullet strikes me as the most likely one to be referenced in book so far.

Wayne fighting Vanishers one on one in time bubbles? They definitely had Aluminium on them and if it was moving in the outside time, somebody would definitely notice.

If aluminium was tested enough to know that wearing it on head granted invulnerability to zinc and brass, then I suppose somebody would have tested it in time bubbles...

Shouldn't time bubbles be looked at as affecting local spacetime directly, and so aluminum shouldn't have any effect as the Investiture isn't being directly applied to it, or having to go through it?

What Moridin said.  Bubbles should affect a region of spacetime; the stuff inside is just along for the ride.

Example: a box made of steel, with an aluminum block inside of it.  a coinshot can still Push on the steel box, and the aluminum box inside would come along for the ride.

If the aluminum is immune to the time change, you break several laws of physics and causality in really bad ways.  It would be the worst decision Brandon could ever make in regards to realistic physics.
