PallonianFire he/him
So we know from WoB that, on the map of Shadesmar we're given in the SA books, the Expanse of the Vapors is Scadrial. And he said that the Expanse for Sel made sense for why it's hard to worldhop to/from there using the CR. I always figured that meant Sel was the Expanse of the Broken Sky (splintered Shards, broken land, etc.), but the location and geography of the fortress and the fact that the Ire are clearly from Sel makes me think Sel is actually the Expanse of the Densities. (And Taldain is Broken Sky, Nalthis is Vibrance). Agree/disagree?
Khyrindor he/him
While I was reading Secret History Ire part, I was under the impression that, while those were Elantrians, that wasn't Sel. The fortress may have been an outpost for them, but the Cognitive Reflection of Sel has the Dor floating around all over the place, and I've seen it likened to plasma unless I'm mistaken. That's why it is so dangerous to Worldhop around there. The Ire's potions seem to be small amounts of the Dor that they bring places to be portable so that they retain their powers away from home. PallonianFire he/him
It certainly seemed clear (at least to me) that where the fortress was was not Scadrial anymore, at least. And the solid geography of it=density. Do we have a WoB that the CR for Sel has the Dor "floating around"? I've never heard of that before beyond conjecture, since the Shards are splintered. Esaias he/him
“The Ire built a city,” Preservation said, softly. “In a place between worlds . . .” This seems to be saying that the fortress was built in space, not on Sel.
PallonianFire he/him
...I apparently erased that particular bit from my memory. Rats. So much for that. But still, for the Expanses, I think Densities makes more sense for Sel than for any of the other worlds we know about. Roshar would make sense, IMO, but the Expanses are clearly other worlds than that. Vibrance has to be Nalthis. And Broken Sky makes way more sense for Taldain than Densities. Weltall
Yeah, I like Taldain for Broken Sky, especially since Way of Kings features an early cameo by a White Sand character so there's already a reference there. One thing I was wondering though, since there are two other inhabited worlds in the system, shouldn't Braize and Ashyn have much closer Cognitive representations that should be somewhere on the map? There are some other features (the Nexuses of Truth, Transition and Imagination) but there are too many of them to be only those planets and one of them is part of the Reshi Isles on Roshar so I doubt it's entirely empty in the Cognitive Realm. Observer
Is Braize even inhabited enough to have a notable space set aside for it in the Cognitive? Odium doesn't strike me as the type to Invest himself very far into a planet.
