KidWayne he/him Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 Check out http://www.sandersonmetal.ca/Sanderson Metal Recovery: Specializing in Scrap Metal purchasing, processing and haulingThey're a legit Canadian business outside of Toronto. The coincidence was just too much for me not to give them a shout-out on the shard. 5
NovaSeeker he/him Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 Coincidence? Yeah right. -puts on aluminum foil cap- 3
KidWayne he/him Posted February 10, 2016 Author Posted February 10, 2016 We really need a tin foil hat wearing emoticon.
Stormgate he/him Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 A tin foil hat would be worse than useless if Allomancers are involved. It could be used to snap the wearer's neck with a good push or pull. Aluminum, though... I wonder if Sanderson knew what he was doing when he made 1) a power that could, in a sense, control someone's mind and 2) aluminum as a metal that, when used as/in a hat, will protect you from the aforementioned power. Basically, he made aluminum foil hats a legitimate protection from mind control. 2
NovaSeeker he/him Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 Of course he knew what he was doing. What did we learn about coincidences?
natc Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 So, the question becomes: does a kandra with an aluminum true body become immune to control if they form a brain inside the skull? 1
Kingsdaughter613 she/her Posted February 14, 2016 Posted February 14, 2016 All I can say to the above, 'There is always another secret.' 1
jasenerd Posted February 14, 2016 Posted February 14, 2016 Better question, what would the aluminium spike do to a Kandra if it was used as a blessing? Because the blessings are literally the source of their sentience, you would imagine that aluminium would have an effect.

Actually, I believe that I read a bit where he admitted to doing it by accident and then found it quite amusing that he'd just invented a world in which foil hats were a genuine protection against mental manipulation.
