Patar he/him
I don't know if this has been brought up before, but does anyone find Marsh's name a bit odd? Sure, there are other characters with odd names (Spook, Breeze) but those are crewmember names, not their actual real names. I also find it a bit odd that Marsh's mother would name him Marsh, while she named her younger son Kelsier, which at least in the Mistborn world, sounds a bit more normal. Maybe it's just an odd name choice, but could Marsh perhaps have ditched his real name when he began leading the skaa rebellion, and started using a nickname instead? Marsh just sounds suspiciously like a crewmember name along the lines of Spook, Breeze, and Clubs, and perhaps not his original name. Anyways, any thoughts? Curious Anamaximder he/him
Yeah, that could be possible. Kelsier or Marsh never mention it, though. I'm just inclined to think that Marsh is a friendly nickname.
Plaeggs he/him
Probably Marshall or something. That would explain it. Who would want to be called Marshall?
DSC01 he/him
Probably not a nickname, since his nickname was Ironeyes.
Pathfinder
Yeah but people can have multiple nicknames, and it was commented due to steel inquisitors, it wasn't exactly a well liked or often used nickname.
Oversleep
It could be also a short version of his full name. Like Elend being called "El".
The Sovereign
It is unlikely that it is a nickname. Most of the names in Mistborn are of French origin and "Marshal" is a traditional French name.

Most, probably, but not all. Elend (as well as his father's name Straff) are German words.1 I don't know a lot about French names though I tried to find out about "Marshal" as a prénom, uh, prename, but couldn't find something that fits. Marshal(l) is in French "Maréchal" and I've only found it as a last name. I might be nitpicking but it's not meant malicious.

Regarding Marshal, you are correct the French name (and it is an old one at that) is Maréchal, but if I remember correctly, Marshal with 1 'L" is an English derivative of the French name referring to Horse-tenders. Marshall with 2 L's on the other hands is a derivative from Scottish roots.
Stormgate he/him
According to the Mistborn annotations, the thing about Elend and Straff being German names was a fluke, and they were supposed to sound French. That's all I know.
DeadFencer
Marsh is named after the swamp he inhabits. Marsh is Shrek.
