Oh.....

Hi agian

Bet you didn't miss me

And another thing,

Given my incredibly narcissistic nature, if there's been any threads mourning my departure and my absence, with users tearing up over me, please direct me to them

Missed you in the Wastelands, thread kind of died a bit. Hopefully Calamity will perk it back up though.

If you guys have forgotten, Kathy/Flamethrower was last written in the middle of a fight with Dodgeball. So, even with the tweaking, the post might not be possible.

Also, can I see the original post, if anyone still has it? I'm rather interested.

In other news, I finished Calamity, and I found something extremely relevant to the RP.

Here's a quote from the part at Sharp Tower :

The casual reader may assume that "backtracking" simply refers to going back the way one came ; but I, as a studied lorist of Oregonian Epics, know the truth. This is obviously a Reckonerverse slang term, derived from none other than our beloved Backtrack.

Abraham is running away. He is obviously afraid. All he wants to do is escape.

He is Backtracking.

tumblr_nn499efu7_R1sh43kgo1_400.gif

Obviously, the Bandersnatch himself recognized Backtrack's notable cowardice and tendency to flee, and realized that knowledge of such a unique (for an Epic) characteristic would spread far and wide, and integrate itself into Reckonerverse language. Here is my conjectured definition :

backtrack : verb; slang; to flee out of fear (derived from the name of the cowardly Californian Epic Backtrack)

My fellow Oregoners, we have been honored. Backtrack, one of the RP's most pathetic Epics, has been immortalized as a part of canon Reckonerverse culture.

Now, you should all thank me for this momentous discovery.  B):P

I really wanted to post something about that but worried about seeming narcissistic. :P You raise better points than I would have anyway.

No, seriously what did I miss?

He introduced an Epic with a buttload of PIs and offensive powers who'd apparently been the one to "possess" Obliteration into destroying Houston and was going to do the same to all of Oregon.

Not to mention the fact that this Epic had apparently destroyed, or had a big hand in destroying, at least three major cities around the world.

So if Portland is closed to epics, and I think the Dalles might be too, which ones are open, and why should my character go there. I'm aware of Astoria's availability, but I want to team up with Cannon Fodder, and I don't think ol' CF could survive there.

Corvallis is somewhat open, but talk to Comatose for specifics. Salem is open.

are there rules against mind control epics? (I am still kinda new here)

Mind control within the Reckonersverse is very limited, according to Brandon: The way he put it, their powers are more subtle (like making you think you want a sandwich and leaving your post instead of just forcing you to leave your post).

so more like telapathic suggestion?  making you think you want something for some reason and soothing away all other distractions from that goal. hmn... I need to rethink a few epics then...

The Salem post will almost certainly guarantee he gets murdered to death pretty quickly, Salem doesn't really have a plot yet but there are some developing at the moment.

I don't know... he kinda, well...

here.

spoiler tag for length.

On a dark road in the middle of the night, ten miles from the Salem boarder, a lone motor cycle rode through. Dodging through debris and wrecked cars.

Slowing, the Motor cycle turned right until it came off the road, the rider looked around, but did not lift his helmet or dismount. Reaching up to his arm, he removed the mobile that he had placed there and tapped it. Moments later the words PERIMETER SECURED flashed on the screen. He swiped the message aside and began typing the number that would change all of Salem’s future.

Juggler shuffled his deck, flipping the cards into the air with such precision that they landed neatly on the stack to his right.

He stopped when he heard a phone ring.

Nightling was walking down the street with his guards when every last one of them received a call at the same time. Nightling frowned and reached into his pockets, the others around him doing the same.

Sonica stopped in midflight, holding up the phone. It was big and bulky, and she wondered how it had gotten in her pocket.

Worried it might be her bosses work, she opened it…

Carrion held the bulky phone up to his ear. Who would dare call him at this hour?

“Who is this?”

Lightninggale frowned. “Who is this?” she demanded “if this is—“

“Epics of Salem…” a deep voice said.

Knuckles frowned at the deep voice over the phone, if this was some sort of recruitment deal going on again he was going to bust some heads.

“The Hunter…”

Shotput cocked his head, where had he heard that name…

“Has sentenced you…”

“…To DIE!”

Explosions sounded in the distance as the man on the motorcycle looked back into the city, his posture implying satisfaction and confidence.

He tossed the mobile to the ground, he didn’t want any chance to be found out. Not just yet.

He still had work to do.

There are no actual spoilers, it's just big. And interesting.

So what is the general situation in Corvallis and Salem? I also heard to stay away from a certain epic, (Name started with "B," makes all my swords disappear) And I don't want to end up in the same city as him.

Any chance you can be more precise with that description? I can't remember an Epic specific with the powers to make swords disappear... so  (Of course that also seems a bit over careful but that's another matter entirely)

Yeah, Soulcaster is generally pretty laid back but he really doesn't like people killing all his Epics, particularly with explosions like that that also destroy his town. (Do you have any idea how much paperwork he needs to do to organize rebuilding? ) So I'm still inclined to think the Hunter would be murdered to death shortly after.

...Are you thinking of Murphy, from Portland? I don't know who else you'd be talking about.

Salem doesn't have too much in the way of plot at the moment, mostly it's focussed around an arena where Epics and occasionally non-Epics do battle against each other on an Astral plane, provided by the ruler of the city; Soulcaster.

As for the Epic, Bioterror maybe? He could eat a sword pretty easily I guess. Other than that I can't think of anyone.

Honestly swords aren't that hard to get rid of. Mary could portal them away, Brightdeath could grab one and then port away, Blossom could probably melt one with her breath, the financier could multiply them with zero, Kenshin could just cut them into tiny sword fragments, against Deathwish any kind of weapon is just a liability, Lockvault could just store them, Mouldbreaker could jelly them but I've long since stoped searching under the letter B. :P

Big Al can fill the room with so many Sausage McMuffins that you lose the sword?

Backtrack can make you lose track of where you put your weapons because you're too busy laughing at him?

Baxter Game is so nice you'll put your sword away willingly?

Funtimes doesn't have a B name (even her real name has nary a B to be found) but she'd turn his swords into baklava. :P

Maybe they were talking about Boctor Funmimes? Her cousin twice removed. :P
