Shardbearer he/him Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 So I first started reading WoT when I was in high school, like almost 20 years ago now. I got through Winter's Heart at that time, but got tired of the dragging plotlines and wasn't sure if I would finish the series. By the time the next book came out I had lost interest, and it wasn't until I heard Brandon was doing the last books that I became interested again. Still, it took a long time for me to decide to get back into it and reread all the old books. I'm glad I did! I finally just started reading TGS and I'm really liking it. And I liked KoD more than I thought I would, too. On thing I really like about Brandon's way of doing the books is that he doesn't stick with one character for as long as Jordan did. With Jordan's books, I got tired of reading from the same perspective for a large chunk of time. Brandon switches perspectives much more often, and it's helps keep me interested. Looking forward to finally finishing this series.
Shardbearer he/him Posted January 5, 2016 Author Posted January 5, 2016 And wow. Just finished TGS. Masterfully handled by Sanderson, of course. I'd say this is the most exciting book in the series so far.
Rayse Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 The final three books that Sanderson wrote were the best three of the series. I'm sure part of it was that all the different plots were coming to a climax but he definitely kept the story moving while sticking to Jordan's writing style and character development. I don't want to be callous but I don't know that the books would have ended as well as they did if not for Sanderson. If not for Stormlight Archives I'd be pull for Brandon to take on a AOL series, a Mat and Tuan book or a 5th age perhaps. I have to wonder if Jordan was thinking ahead to a 5th age as a steampunk edition. 1
Shardbearer he/him Posted January 26, 2016 Author Posted January 26, 2016 I believe Jordan had been talking about doing a Mat in Seanchan series, however, Brandon has said that this probably won't happen now. 1
DefyTheOdds he/him Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 Obviously it would be really cool to have more, because its always hard to get to the end of series that you've literally been reading for years, but I like how it ended, and that everything that happens to the other characters afterwards is a pure mystery and just something to ponder about
stgermaine Posted May 8, 2016 Posted May 8, 2016 The last three were absolutely the best, but I think that is RJs doing. Sanderson is absolutely my favorite author, but RJ spent half a dozen books setting up the most boring dominoes ever. Sanderson got to come along and knock them over, and did a fantastic job, but I imagine with RJs notes and already written sections, the vast majority of credit goes to Jordan.
