Stormgate he/him Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 Hoid is what the Doctor wants to be. Someone who just travels. Sure, Hoid has more adventures than that, but the Doctor likes that.
AerionBFII he/him Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 Didn't Rock say he was forbidden from hurting others? Maybe it's a restriction from the Shards..??
Stormgate he/him Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 Hood says it has something to do with his upbringing. I'm sensing more to the story, though.
yurisses Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 I like that Hoid can't hurt people. Sanderson's 2nd law of magic- limitations are more important than powers.
baby he/him Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 (edited) Just asking (and this is kinda off topic but Odium is a godlike character so) but have we had confirmation that Odium has been messing around on allllll planets? KOGIOPSISGiven that we now know that Odium can 'make it possible' for people to use magic that draws on him on other planets, has he done this anywhere besides Roshar?BRANDON SANDERSONOdium has been active on all other planets, including several we haven't seen yet. baby he/him Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 This quote came out in 2013 I'm still surprised by it.
hoidhunter he/him Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 After finding that that dastardly Vasher made it into The Stormlight Archive, I wondered if other godlike characters can world hop such as Sazed. Is it likely Brandon Sanderson will make them all come together in some epic battle for the Cosmere? While I think it's likely that we will see a lot more overlap between worlds/characters as the stories progress...I'm not sure if Brandon would go for the galactic "Free for All" as a way to wrap things up...it just seems a little too obvious. On the other hand...the entire cosmere, so far, has been the story of how different "godlike characters" (shards) interact with each other...so...yes. Didn't Rock say he was forbidden from hurting others? Maybe it's a restriction from the Shards..?? This is the impression that I have always gotten as well. We never see Hoid get involved in any brawling...and I think that there is an excellent reason for that.

To be honest, we haven't seen much of him at all apart from the happy-go-lucky advice giver and insulter, and the moody storyteller.

Well...I should have said that...not only do we have a few in world references to his lack of violent potential...but all we ever see him do is meddle...despite the fact that he is obviously a powerhouse...
