My money are in the little glowing dude with the spear =)

Huh, how would Kaladin kill a chasmfiend without a Shardblade? I'm curious, now. I'm sure he could do it, too, but how?

I guess Lashing it up in the air and letting it splat itself on the ground could be feasible, but the amount of Stormlight required would be ridiculous, I think. Spear to the face doesn't seem feasible. Maybe you could bind it with a Full Lashing and... I don't know. Hum.

1 - Bind the legs with a full lashing to trap the beast - Like Szeth did with  Jah Kaved soldier

2 - Lash a big rock 10g

3 - Aim at head of the beast =)

4- Bring Rock and ask him to make dinner (I like crab very much  -  Live in roshar would be awesome think what must be the size of a crab leg, such a pity that My eyes are fulllllll black) =)

Alternative

1 - Lash some spears with 5/10 g

2- Aim at head

3- Fire

4- Call rock

I know this is a little rude, but I would like to see all of our predictions proven wrong. I just think it would be awesome to have an author take something we have seen a lot of times and turn it on its head (so to speak). I have this bad habit where, if the scene I am reading is similar to all of the other books I have read, I get the urge to want to skip to the stuff I haven't experienced before. I am a little impatient that way.

Here are some of my things I definitely want to see.

1. Shallan backstory. All of it. She was one of my favorite characters and I want to see what happened to her in the past.

2. The inevitable confrontation with Kaladin and Amaram. I'm willing to be surprised on what the outcome is.

3. The even more inevitable confrontation between Kaladin and Szeth. Same as 2.

4. More Shadesmar, more Ghostbloods, and more Taravangian.

5. Reading Lift's Interlude again. It was awesome.

Definitely this is the top 3.

4) More of Jasnah

5) Renarin's spren

6) Shallan + Adolin

I'm going to go ahead and get rid of my previous list and just say that I really, really hope that there's a scene with Kaladin's parents. I don't want to keep imagining a sad Lirin stuck with Roshone.

If the book was focused 100% on Shallan, I'd be completely fine with it and would love it. So there you go, I want tons of Shallan.

Shadesmar, and Shallan and Jasnah exploring it and maybe finding something we haven't even imagined, something to surprise us.

Welcome friend take this upvote for breaking the shell and begin posting =)

Nothing against big monster especially when the main character are fighting then with almost "bare hand". Would be nice se Kal doing Sly wish and fighting a clasmfiend. My money are in the little glowing dude with the spear =)

Thanks!  Long time lurker here, and I figured I'd be coming here much more often in the next few months.

Something else that's not entirely story related--I can't wait to see all of the new artwork inside the book.  It's the main reason I will always buy these books in hardback as opposed to ebook.

Posted (edited)

I'm really excited to see all our main characters interact with each other finally. How will Adolin, Renarin, and Kaladin get along? Dalinar and Jasnah? Navani and Jasnah? Jasnah and Elhokar? Shallan and Adolin? Shallan and Renarin? Shallan and Wit? Also, will Amaram and Dalinar turn out to be friends, or enemies? And of course the inevitable conflict with Szeth. Plot-wise I'm mostly looking forward to all the things none of us have anticipated or imagined could possibly happen because Brandon is just that good, and we know he's going to surprise us all at least a little bit.

Edit: Also I totally second that about the artwork. Way of Kings was a beautiful book, and with the newest edition of the cover art, that Shallan painting, and the Santhid in the shardhunt, I'm fully expecting book two to be equally gorgeous.

Ugh, could totally see Jasnah falling  for certain darkeyed spearman (no, not Lopen).

To be honest, I too, feel so refreshed by the characters acctually interacting with another, after so many epics that could've been couple of books shorter if everyone (at least good guys) just sat down for a honest 15 minute talk. To see Jasnah just tell Shallan about her view of whats happening to them, and that she has already told that to her mother was a shock. I mean it took late Jordan around 5 books just to get Perin to sey outloud "Um, yeah .. I can talk to wolfies".

What I am most eagar to se is if BS can add to this world fast enough to keep the pace from the first book going. Roshar is a fantastic world, and we all know his world building skills. I felt that WoK was great but that he spent a lot of basic world building there, and was anxious to see how WoR would be paced. And boy am I a happy trooper now that I've just read few chapters...

I'm going to put my serious list here, for more of a fun musing, enjoy the new thread

1. Hoid scenes, because they always crack me up and make my mind blow every time.

2. Kaladin meeting Szeth. Don't care too much about the fight, but I want to see Kaladin discover more uses for stormlight.

3. Shallan learning about soulcasting from Jasnah.

4. Surprisingly, I want more development with Sadeas.

5. What's going on with the heralds?

Edit: Link added

Posted (edited)

1: Hoid. Both in his role as Wit and as the Worldhopper; dropping bits of knowledge and poignant lessons.

2: Dalinar recognizing his Surgebinding abilities.

3: Jasnah and Shallan's relationship. Whether simply student teacher or whatever it may or may not turn in to. (I put them together, because IMHO that would be the most interesting way for their characters to develop.)

4: Bridge 4. I want to see what these men develop in to.. Kaladin seems JFK esqe with his charisma. I want to see how it affects these guys when they are no longer looking at the bottom of the trough through 6 feet of crem.

5: Elhokar: I really like this guy. No particular reason, i guess. But i want to see him grow up a bit. He whines a bit much right now.

Here's my quick top 10:

1. Kaladin. Flying.

2. Renarin w/ radiant powers

3. Someone else in bridge 4 with radiant powers

4. Kaladin + Amaram in same room

5. Shallan + jasnah + exposed shard blade.

6. Kaladin finding out that dalinar has high storm visions too. And vice versa.

7. Jasnah + Taln in same room at same time.

8. Teft's backstory

9. A voidbinder. Any voidbinder.

10. Kaladin. Landing. With impact crater.

Just on the whole more of Dalinar being the leader he was meant to be

Tied in with new characters for each order of Radiants, whether that be through interlude or explicitly meeting more heralds

Also a large helping of talanel dropping some historic heraldic knowledge on the ignorant of Alethkar

Posted

1. Kaladin and Szeth Fight Scene: Szeth has explicitly stated that he is starting to hate those he kills simply because they cannot defend themselves against him. Kaladin might be one of the only individuals on Roshar that is a match for him at this point. I want to see how Szeth reacts to this.

2. Kaladin Kills Amaram: I realize that this will actually be a backward step for his character, but he deserves to kill him. Or, if not kill him, i want him to find a way to destroy the shards he stole... yes please.

3. Bridge Four -  Someone Becomes a Radiant: Skar, Teft, Sigzil, and Moash are the most likely candidates here, but anything could happen. (This post has been reported for attempting to skirt the rules is going on with Dabbid, talk already would ya).

4. Bridge Four - Kaladin Gives Rock Shards: Kaladin does not want shards, but if he gets any, which is likely, he will probably try to get rid of them like he did last time. If he is going to give them to anyone, I think they should go to Rock. All hail the new king of the Unkalaki!

5. Bridge Four - Shen Binds A Spren: Shen needs to be the first Parshman to "wake up" and recover from whatever it is that humanity did to them. i would like to see it happen in this book, but I will probably be left waiting. I just hope that he doesnt end up being killed by Kaladin if he becomes a voidbringer.

6. Szeth Kills His Master: This IS going to happen. But probably not until his book, book three I believe.

7. Dalinar Becomes A Radiant: We all love Dalinar, and we all want him to kick chull. Enough said.

8. Taln Isn't Dead: There is a good deal of speculation that he is dead, because of the whole shard blade not disappearing thing, but I hope he isn't. I want him to take some serious vengeance on the other Heralds for ditching him in Damnation.

9. Kaladin Confronts His Father: This would be a very interesting conversation I think. The mixture of pride, hate, shame, love, and guilt will make for some tense scenes.

10. Wit: I just want to see more of him.

Taln is actually speculated to be alive, because his Shardblade works differently from a normal one.

Seven magnificent swords stood proudly here, driven point-first into the stone ground. Each was a masterly work of art, flowing in design, inscribed with glyphs and patterns. He recognized each one. If their masters had died, the Blades would have vanished.

-- Prelude to the Stormlight Archive, pg. 16

As Taln is a herald, and his blade does not vanish at the end of TWoK, it's pretty much confirmed that he's alive. Whether he's in a lucid state of mind is a whole 'nother story.

1. I really really want to see kaladin either beat the crap out of amaram, seriously embarrass amaram, see dalinar force amaram to give up his shards, really just anything to mess with amaram. I have a serious dislike of that guy

2. Kaladin vs szeth is hopefully gunna be so epic I'll scream like a little girl.

3. Shallarin!!!!

4. Sedeas getting what's coming to him. Like dalinar demanding his execution for the betrayal or something

Posted

1. I really want to see how the rest of the warcamps/Lighteyes react to Kaladin training the bridgemen.  I expect they will first laugh and quickly become wary, because the bridgemen will become a great fighting force.  They would likely be aghast at first that Dalinar even put such lowly men in those positions and think Dalinar is completely addled.

2. I look forward to Dalinar whipping the other warcamps into shape and totally pissing off the other Lighteyes.

3. I really want to see Renarin come out of his shell, both with becoming a real fighter (with the aid of the shardplate) and I am expecting him to become more openly scholarly, despite that being a women's business.  Gender roles will likely be changing, with female Radiants learning to fight. I'd imagine he'd realize he has a spren as well.

4. I look forward to Kaladin becoming a radiant, possibly having a blade appear out of thin air as he says more of the words.  Maybe it will be a spear? I can't wait for some of the Kholins to figure out he has powers, probably in a moment of him defending them. The discussions should be interesting after that.  Both Dalinar and Kaladin would likely be flummoxed as they compare notes. I want to see what friendships develop for him with the Kholins and Shallan, though it might take a while for Adolin to get over the way Kaladin dressed him down out on the planes.

5. Adolin and Shallan should be interesting. They would likely have heated disagreements, which later turn to attraction.

6. Shallan will probably create quite the stir amongst the Lighteyes. Who is this nobody, who is ward to the King's sister, who is marrying Adolin? With Jasnah and Navani to coach her, she should do fine. Her drawing skills would totally floor the other women at one of those dinner time contests.

7. Elhokar is going to have to grow as a king.  Maybe he'll get a glance at Shallan's drawing of the symbol-heads, or Jasnah/Shallan will overhear his muttering about them. Learning the things he sees are real and what they are should help his mental stability. Also I want to know more about his wife.  Jasnah likely considered her some kind of threat and it would be nice to know why.

8. Szeth and Kaladin will have to cross paths.  I'd think it would be cool if Kaladin somehow talked him out of obeying his master, instead of having to kill him. He seems like he's having a lot of internal conflict about his beliefs as it is.

9. The Parshendi seem to want to talk to Dalinar.  I could totally see a group (perhaps one exploring the ruins of Urithiru), being carried off or lead off to talk to Parshendi leaders.  Then everyone back and the warcamps would freak out, thinking them dead, then freak out more when they return with info.

I really wanna see what Taln does. He could either start hunting down the other Heralds (either for vengeance or to reunite them all before the desolation) or he could start trying to prepare the people of Roshar for the coming Desolation. I have a hunch there are going to be a lot of people that don't believe him or try to undermine his authority.

I'm assuming he also doesn't really know what has been happening in the world since his last imprisonment, so I'm really hoping that Wit takes it upon himself to be his tutor in what is currently going on in both Roshar and the Cosmere, because I would imagine someone like Taln would be a player in both.

I'm looking forward to the hurt in my heart from over-anticipation going away.  I wish I had the will-power to not visit these boards for the next month and a half.  I can;t get into speculation when it's so close! I'll pipe up on dissagreements or my opinions on stuff but I'm  totally apatheic to theorizing myself, what's the point.. It exists already and I know it.  Ohh the woe of we who wait.  (how emo and I being right now. ughhh)

Haha.  I had to upvote just because of this statement.  Totally tickled my funny bone!

What I am looking forward to is Brandon is answering some of our questions and giving us so many more to ponder.  I think that is Brandon's greatest skill.  He is great at giving us this big fat ol' mystery and then slowly but surely reveals a little more with each and every chapter.  It makes me crave more but at the same time satisfies me by the end of each book.  Brandon's fan interaction also plays into this too because during breaks between books he continues to drop clues and hints that make it so interesting to go back and re-read the book again and learn even more.

So, yeah, that is what I most looking forward to!

More Radient Ideals being spoken. I got massive chills from both scenes (Kaladin and Lift) where this has happened already. Kaladin's words, in particular, struck a deep chord with me.

Confrontations: Szeth vrs Kaladin, Kaladin vrs Amaram, Hoid vrs Anyone. Be they physical, verbal, or otherwise. Bring it.

Stonewardens! (obviously.) Trust me, these guys are going to be epic!

Renarin's spren. Really, anything more about Renarin in general. Renarin is one of those quiet characters who is getting set up to really step up and become something beyond what anyone thought he was capable of.

Shallan's character growth. Shallen has potential to become a very deep character, and I'm very excited to see where she's headed. :)

The epilogue. Brandon said this should excite anyone who's interested in crossovers. Yes, please.

More clues to whatever-the-heck Galivar and Amaram were up to. Seriously.

Forgot one: The look on Sadeas' face when Dalinar is publicly announced as Highprince of War.
