little wilson she/her
So this isn't a site issue, but I'm hoping someone (possibly Eric or some other tech/computer-savvy individual out there) could help me out. A few months ago, my hard drive crashed, and I got a new hard drive in my laptop. Since then, my ability to format and everything else in posts on this site is nonexistent. I can't change the text color; I can't link out with anchor text. I can't even copy and paste into a post (including PM's). I have to manually type things out (which really sucks when I'm typing out a long link....). I have the most current version of Java and Flash. (Not sure if Flash matters in this case...don't think it does, but just in case). And it's still not working. Any ideas? Any help is much appreciated. Chaos he/him
Hmmm. Let's see if we can figure out what does it! What browser are you currently using?
dyring
I got the same problem btw. And I havent had a crash or such. I do have a problem with windows update meaning I do not have the latest update installed. Not being able to quote is the most annoying part;). But I havent quite bothered to look into it yet;)
little wilson she/her
I've been able to quote, although sometimes the quote function doesn't work properly. And the multi quote doesn't work at all. I'm using Chrome.
Chaos he/him
Interesting. There was a topic a while back saying that IE11 had issues with that, but Chrome works fine. I would need to do research on it. If you click the upper left button of the text editor--which switches it to BBCode--can you then use the quote and multiquote features?
little wilson she/her
I can quote, but not multi quote. However, I can copy/paste, which I couldn't do before. So that's something. Still can't change color, and any of the other things in the text editor. Although now that I know it uses brackets rather than the sideways carot, I can get around the simple stuff like anchor text links. In the meantime.... EDIT: And after a quick google search on BBCode, I know how to change the text color. But that's kind of a hassle, so if we can figure out the problem, that would be ideal. Also, Eric, you are a gentleman and scholar. Just sayin'. Edited January 7, 2014 by little wilson
Chaos he/him
I am going to do some more research, I just don't know why the error is happening right now and so I at least wanted you to be able to do *something* XD I'll look around. Hopefully I'll figure it out.
Meg
I know it's off topic and you're busy, but I like to add that the time shown in the forums still doesn't work correct. Only the timestamp in quotes shows the right time. It's not important (only a bit confusing) and not urgent.
Chaos he/him
I have fixed the timestamp issue now.

Chaos he/him
Thanks a lot! Question: why is your text size so small?
Meg
Question: why is your text size so small? Because I'm shy and my request was offtopic. So I used [ size ]
little wilson she/her
So....it's not my computer. I'm on a different computer right now and I'm having the exact same problems.
Chaos he/him
Huh. Because these things work in Chrome for me on Windows 8.1. What OS version?I'll try and test around on some computers and browsers on campus and see if I can replicate it. EDIT: Obviously there is something in common, so we need to find what that commonality is. If anyone else has experienced this, please let me know. little wilson she/her
I'm using Windows 7 on both my laptop (which I'm on now) and my work computer. Chrome on both as well.
Chaos he/him
I'll investigate some Windows 7 computers.
Meg
I've some formatting problems for some weeks now, too. I'm using Win 7 Home SP1 and Firefox 23.0.1 at home and Win 7 Prof and Opera 10.x (and alternatively Firefox) at work. I've the problems on both computers. edit: I just got this after hitting the "quote"-button: There was the quote and this: Fatal error: Out of memory (allocated 0) (tried to allocate 523188528 bytes) in Unknown on line 0 I've deleted this line and the post worked well, but it's confusing. little wilson she/her
Just to let you know, Eric, this isn't a problem anymore. At least, not for me. I'm not sure if you did something, or if it just sorted itself out, but the text editor works fine now (even in Chrome). Which makes everything else work too. That said, I'm still really glad I learned all that bbcode. Those colors and everything? Excellent information stored in my head...
Chaos he/him
Darn, and I was going to troubleshoot it to attempt to figure out what was causing it. That said I am pretty sure I didn't do anything to fix it. Certainly not in any active way. I blame Hoid. And Shiro.
Senor Feesh
I don't know if this will help at all, but:I have similar issues as the others. I'm on Windows 8.1 and use IE 11 in Fullscreen mode. I can get rid of the problem by clicking the light-switch icon in the posting box and reverting to good old BBcode (allows me to quote etc.)The problem, at least for me, seems to be with this style of PHPboard in general, and not limited to 17th Shard. EDIT: It's not limited to Fullscreen mode (same thing happens in Desktop mode). Chrome works fine. So for whatever reason, IE doesn't get along well with the latest version of PHP.
