Thermophile he/him Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 (edited) It has been confirmed in The Final Empire that a Mistborn can burn any metal, but that bad ones are bad for them (in book 1, Kelsier says it can kill you, but in book 2 Vin says it can't). However, mistings can only burn one metal. I propose that a misting can burn any metal, but only one 'works', like how all allomantic metals metals work for Mistborn. Also, with 16 types of mistings, does that not mean that Seers (atium mistings) would also be able to burn one of the normal metals (one of the ones not discovered in The Final Empire. Sliders, perhaps?) Edited November 20, 2015 by Thermophile 2
ThirdGen Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 When they Snap, they would have to test various metals to find the one the Misting can burn. I would imagine it doesn't kill them.
Curious Anamaximder he/him Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 There is no such thing as a Seer. Everyone can burn atium. 1
DreamEternal Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 There is no such thing as a Seer. Everyone can burn atium. I think you are confusing Atium and Lerasium. The whole end of HoA hinged in the fact the soldiers who were stricken the most by the mistsickness could now burn Atium. Now that there are no Seer mistings, I'd suppose only mistborn(who also don't exist anymore) can burn atium.
Thermophile he/him Posted November 20, 2015 Author Posted November 20, 2015 When they Snap, they would have to test various metals to find the one the Misting can burn. I would imagine it doesn't kill them. I imagine that burning would be 'instinctive', and that mistings would automatically know to burn whatever metal they can. Maybe. Now that there are no Seer mistings... I'm intrigued at how you arrived at that conclusion. I'm suggesting that, as there are only 16 types of mistings (1/16 of the mistfallen were seers), one of the other kinds of mistings, likely one that isn't for a metal known in The Final Empire, could burn atium. Or perhaps it is one that was known by TLR, which is how that one guy figured out he was a Seer.
Voidus Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Pretty sure there are no Seers anymore, Preservation switched it for the purposes of Mist-snapping people but I doubt they occur naturally anymore.
Thermophile he/him Posted November 20, 2015 Author Posted November 20, 2015 They obviously occured naturaly in The Final Empire. Besides, it's not like there's any atium to burn in the AoL series.
Voidus Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 They obviously occured naturaly in The Final Empire. Besides, it's not like there's any atium to burn in the AoL series. Well there's some at least, it's just not very easy to get, what with being in the possession of death and all And yeah they did occur but that's why I said anymore, now that the other metals are able to actually be utilized I think they've taken the place of Atium mistings.
Yata he/him Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 They obviously occured naturaly in The Final Empire. Besides, it's not like there's any atium to burn in the AoL series. It occured in the Final Empire through the Preservation manipolation of the Allomancy. He switched the right Temporal Metal with Atium and Malatium. Because in the future he would need the Atium's misting for his plan. I suppose that Harmony "fix" the Allomancy, because we saw some right Temporal Misting. 1
Moogle Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 They obviously occured naturaly in The Final Empire. Besides, it's not like there's any atium to burn in the AoL series. Seers were an artificial creation of Preservation. (Actually, I think there's a better WoB outright saying there was sDNA manipulation, but I can't find it.)
Thermophile he/him Posted November 21, 2015 Author Posted November 21, 2015 Preservation switched the right Temporal Metal with Atium and Malatium I realize that Yomen believed that atium and malatium were temporal metals, but I assumed he simply had incomplete knowledge. Did Brandon Sanderson confirm that cadmium and atium got switched?
