TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 Teeny tiny peeve, but when someone who doesn't normally smack their lips starts smacking their lips. To someone with misophonia, it's a "YOU WERE THE CHOSEN ONE!" moment.
Sunbird she/her Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 When someone leaves their extremely loud, obnoxious cell phone ringer on during a book signing after the bookstore staff specifically told everyone to silence their phones, and it goes off twice in the middle of the author's presentation. I mean, c'mon, lady, couldn't you have shut it up after it started blaring the first time??
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 Sir, We are a library. Not a print shop. The reference desk is not where you come and place your order for things to be printed. Policy dictates that I should show you how to print these things yourself, which means I am doing you a favor.

Darkness Ascendant he/him Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 I'm not sure if this is a Pet Peeve. But when someone does something horrible and then makes up for it in a vert subtle manner. Without apologising or anything and basically pretending that it never happened. Context: Dad smashed my tablet in a fit of rage (please don't ask). And this morning told me he would buy me a phone. Something which he has been strongly against as of this morning. :/
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 "This piece on [pertinent social issue] hammers its points a little too hard. I think it could use a good deal more subtlety." "Well, I'm sorry that [position on pertinent social issue] makes you uncomfortable." Spoiler 2

I, for example, when making a point, tend to prioritize accuracy, honesty, and comprehension over subtlety and sensitivity.

There's a marked difference between putting honesty first and not trusting your audience to understand the point you're making unless you hammer it through their skulls. It's the latter that bothers me. Edit: What also bothers me is the notion that a call for handling an issue with greater subtlety is the same as disagreeing with the point being made. TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted January 28, 2017 Posted January 28, 2017 Songwriters who try too hard to be deep. Spoiler Yes, Twenty One Pilots, I'm looking at you. "You learned to fear the Pantaloon" makes me giggle. "Death inspires me like a dog inspires a rabbit" sounds more pretentious than I think you wanted it to sound. Just….stop trying to be deep and write. Spoiler Apologies to those who may like Twenty One Pilots. They're not the only band that does this, but they're the one that gets the most airtime, and so they were first in my mind. 2

A Budgie she/her Posted January 28, 2017 Posted January 28, 2017 When people touch the lens of their glasses. With their fingers. And get their fingerprints all over them. I find it extremely disgusting. Please, use a glasses cloth or even your shirt if you need to. Using your fingers, contrary to what my grandad seems to think for some weird reason, makes things even worse.

Guys, it has a hole in the middle so you don't have to do that and get it all smudgy!
