Not entirely sure if this is the appropriate place to post this, however barring many other alternatives I'll go ahead and do it anyway. Another forum member and I are currently discussing getting involved here and thus are in the process of developing a pair of Epics. That being said, we need a little guidance on what's open for us to jump into and another thing that'd be super useful is the current date in the RPs so I can flesh out specifics for my backstory. Hope to hear from someone soon.

It's September 2023 for most of the RP, our timeline can be found here. Though it's not quite complete :P

In terms of what to jump into that's something that's usually suggested after the profile, since for instance Astoria is pretty OP generally so Epics without defensive powers probably won't last there.

Basically, in response to some confusion about Stormgate and his karma, if someone gives him a paper cut, they will have the cut instead. If he gives himself a paper cut, he still will have the paper cut. He can do this to the degree of a paper cut to surviving a nuke, even if the person who triggered the nuke is already dead. In that situation, it would probably default to whoever was employing the dead nuker, or the creator of that particular bomb. Depends who played the largest role in the damage being done.

Interesting. What happens if an armless person cuts one of his arms off?

...

Not that such a thing would ever come up in this RP.

Well alright, as long as I'm still one. :P

A new WHOOC for everyone as a christmas gift. Because a dead Nighthound is the gift that keeps on giving.

You're the most insane one, I promise. :P

The images of the two of them actually living happy together this created were actually kind of eerie. Still, the ending alone.

Lemon aoli, apparently.

Perfect, I couldn't think of a better mom for this insanity.

I was aiming for terrifying but with a distinctly hopeful ending. :P

Teleportation Question for Stormgate: If something is only partially in darkness, what is the effect?  How much of something (esp people) need to be in darkness to teleport the whole thing/person?

RE: Weather Manipulation - Generally, what are the limits of his power?  I'm curious to see what he cannot do, and where the line is.

Also, MERRY CHRISTMAS (to everyone who celebrates Christmas), and Happy 'Holiday of your Choice' to everyone who celebrated another holiday today, or some time in the near past or future :)!

I think you got a bit beyond hopeful at the end. :P

Now, to make this happen in real.

If something is partially in darkness, it gets harder to teleport. Things in direct light are theoretically possible, but would knock him out. With weather, he can make and control very large storms, but the smallest is about the size of a city. Lightning from the sky is a possibility, but very inaccurate. He has fairly good wind control to allow for flight, and can shoot lightning from his hands (his preferred mode of attack). Making weather not normal for the climate or time of year is harder than normal weather, but still possible. He can't create hurricanes or tsunamis. Lightning storms are easiest, even in places where lightning storms are very unusual.

Also, I have thought of two more Epics. One called Neutrality has the Epic ability of being immune to Epic powers. Using Stormgate as an example, if Stormgate shot Neutrality with lightning, he wouldn't be affected. If Stormgate made it rain, he wouldn't get wet.

With precog Epics, they aren't able to sense him. If Fortuity were to try to shoot him, it would miss. If the guy with the bottomless magazine (shoots bullets forever) were to shoot him, it generally would go right through him, unless he was shot with a bullet that had been put in the old fashioned way. I'm contemplating whether or not Epic invincibility affects him. He has about a 2-inch radius of his Epic-cancelling power, so Epic powers don't affect his clothes. Also, Epic powers means Epics, gifted vanillas, and Epic tech are useless on him. He is an Epic assassin.

The second Epic is much less powerful. His name is Mugshot. His power is to shoot mugs from his hands at variable speeds. Any mug. "Worlds Best (insert whatever here)" mugs. Plastic mugs, thermos mugs, any mug. He can shoot them at high speeds, but the faster it is, the more it drains him. He could make a mug the size of a house, but that would be very difficult to pull off, and he would not be able to make mugs for days.

What if an Epic simply shoots him in the face? Or what if he was standing at ground zero when Obliteration destroys a city? The heat from the melting buildings alone would incinerate him, let alone the direct blast from Obliteration.

Posted

He would be fine with Obliteration. Even melting buildings would not hurt him, as they were made dangerous with Epic powers. If an Epic were to shoot him point blank, it would probably kill him. If an Epic tries to hurt him without using any Epic powers, it will work. That's a limitation, though, not his weakness.

Funtimes is a matter manipulator. If she were to create a flamethrower with her powers, then turn it on him, what would happen? Likewise, what would happen if a vanilla used a weapon Funtimes created on him?

Posted

Probably nothing. I thought of Funtimes, actually. His clothes would not change. She would think he was boring, probably. Also, would she really make a flamethrower? Not exactly her style.

What if a flight Epic tried to pick him up? What if a strength Epic threw a tank at him? What if a mind control Epic had one of his minions kill him?

Look, I'm not plotting how to kill him or anything. I'm just trying to cover every possibility here.

The flight Epic couldn't pick him up, since the Epic would be in his neutralization bubble. The tank would go through him. The minion would actually work.

This is highly unlikely*, but if a weather epic's powers indirectly cause storms and he is later hit by a hailstone that only exists as an indirect effect of that epic, will it hurt him?

*Then again, anyone liking Nighthound is highly unlikely, and he has a sociopathic fan club.

In the same vein, what if an Epic with the power to make bombs blew up the building he's in, causing him to become hit by shrapnel?

Why doesn't a mind-controlled minion count as an Epic-caused attack while a thrown tank that's merely following a trajectory set for it by the laws of physics does? I'm just trying to figure out what the basic rule is here.

You could always just have for Neutrality:

  • If he knows that it is related to an Epic, it is neutralized.
  • Power knows if the action was caused by an Epic, and neutralizes it.
  • Epic has to keep track of Epics and known powers, and with that his power neutralizes everything relating to those known Epics.
  • He simply adapts to whatever threat is currently happening to him, but most stuff goes back to Epics.
  • There was something else, but it sounded too alien-y.

Yeah, the rules seem a little wonky here, and I'm sort of on the edge of declaring him OP. :/

How about if it is directly from an Epic, it doesn't affect him, but if it is indirect, he has to know what power(s) made it happen. Not necessarily which Epics, just the power. He difference between the tank and the minion is that the minion is indirect, and presumably Neutrality doesn't know that the Epic is mind-controlling the guy.

Also, I find it funny that nobody is asking about Mugshot.

We have an Epic who can turn pebbles into buses and an Epic who can pull an infinite number of Sausage McMuffins from his pockets, the latter of which Brandon Sanderson himself commented on. :P
