Quiver he/him
Any Discworld fans in the Cosmere? I've finished all the books except for 'Rising Steam'. There are certain characters and series I like more than others (and the books I don't like are usually Rincewind-related) but on the whole it's one of my favourite book series.
Kurkistan he/him
I quite like that series as well. I feel that it has suffered in recent years, though.
Shardlet he/him
I quite enjoy Discworld. And like you, I don't particularly enjoy the Rincewind books. My favorites are the Sam Vimes and Moist Von Lipwig storylines. And, Kurk. I disagree with you. I thought Snuff was great. Kurkistan he/him
I wasn't going to name (book) names, but Snuff was actually what I was thinking of when I said that. That book pained me to read.
Quiver he/him
Stoneface is the one who got me into Discworld. Finishing 'Guards! Guards' felt like having my mind blown. The Vimes since then haven't struck as hard, but then, you can only have one first time. I wasn't sold on Snuff, since I was sort of hoping for more of an Agatha Christie-risqué parody, but it was still better than Unseen Academicals. The Witches were a pretty fun series, though I'm glad they haven't been published in a while. Lords and Ladies was a pretty perfect climax for them.
Atilium she/her
Forever and always! If I'm bored, I re-read a Prattchet. For me, though I dislike Rincewind as a character, I love Rincewind books because they often contain the best puns and wordplay jokes. And everyone loves Vimes. How can you not love Vimes?
Quiver he/him
I'm actually the reverse on Rincewind. I find the idea of him really funny, but I hate his books since they are so aimless. So I love Sorcery since it has a good character and stories, but I think Eric is maybe the single worst novel in the series.
Vortaan he/him
I wasn't going to name (book) names, but Snuff was actually what I was thinking of when I said that. That book pained me to read. I'm curious as to why. Snuff isn't exactly a light hearted romp, but I thought it was a pretty good book
Kurkistan he/him
The characterization and prose just felt wrong with Snuff. I know that isn't a very sophisticated criticism, but that's the best I can describe why.
Vortaan he/him
Fair enough. The fact that he's still writing with Alzheimer's is amazing to me, so I'm willing to overlook a few style differences. I'll admit that his books... I want to say post-Nation have seemed a bit different than those before.
Kurkistan he/him
I totally respect him for writing despite the "Embuggerance", don't get me wrong. It's just that I don't feel like I'm reading the same author anymore, which is in fact the case, to a certain sad extent.
