Firiel she/her Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 (edited) Hi! I read the first two Mistborn books a couple years ago and then got distracted by college. I only just finished the trilogy and read his other stuff after I graduated last May... and I'm pretty much obsessed with Brandon's stuff now. I feel like I need to be pointed in the right direction. I know the general idea of the cosmere (and have read all of his cosmere-related books), but I'm not all that well-informed. I want to know EVERYTHING, but I figure I've got to start with the basics. Chaos is supposedly writing a Cosmere Guide, but other than that, I'd look around the General Theories board, see what's there. Feel free to PM me or someone you consider intelligent (XP) if you have questions. We throw around a lot of lingo and it can be REALLY confusing if you don't know what's what. Other than that, the wiki articles are a good source of information...(I think). Just ask questions, and read up on the threads (if you don't mind spoilers and spoilers-on-the-future). I'm gonna go ahead and point this out again. (i think this is my new favorite chaos quote) I stalk all the ladies. Also: note the hidden inflections, and use of tone and phrasing that implies (it's hard to notice on the internet, but trust me, it's there) an understood "as well" at the end of this, implying that he also stalks men, too, in case you are not female. Other than that, yeah, welcome! The general theories board should point you in the right direction for what you're looking for. Other than that, if you just stick around and participate, you're likely to learn a whole lot!

Hey! That's slander. I only stalk ladies. I believe Chaos, one of the administrators, is planning to write a 'quick overview to the Cosmere' sometime. Other than that, the wiki articles are a good source of information...(I think). There are lots of words to describe the Cosmere Guide I'm writing now. "Quick" is not one of them. Try "Complete" and "Unabridged" and "Really-time-consuming-for-Chaos-to-write". So... sorry. It isn't done. I'm only 1000 words into it, and it's easily going to be 10,000 words long. That said, Firiel, I'm online practically all the time, and I'm happy to talk cosmere all day. I'm not kidding. So, if you like IMing, that works best. Also, check out Zas's Brandonothology. It was more interesting that way! I'll hang out and learn some stuff before I start asking cosmere questions so as to avoid asking dumb ones, which I have a tendency to do.

For some reason, i could never see chaos getting SO BUSY, that he isn't more than willing to talk you to death over an afternoon about his theories and the cosmere in general.

Warning: The General Theory thread doesn't have any spoiler tags. So if you haven't read all the Cosmere books yet, you may want to stay away.
