Popular Post Zas678 he/him Posted October 13, 2015 Popular Post Posted October 13, 2015 So I recently created a Pattern costume, which looks pretty sweet. The head is some foam core (it's kind of like a black foamy cardboard) that we traced and cut out of an enlarged canon image of pattern. For the rest of the costume, we used this image as an inspiration: Actually making it, the hardest and coolest part of it all was the head itself: And from a slightly different angle: Our goal now is to make it so that Pattern's head can spin, and for that, I need YOUR help. I recently found this amazing video of a Pattern-like head. However, the group that was providing it doesn't have a source for the video. Could anyone help me find the source for this video? Or if not, some ideas on how to create something like this? http://weloveshortvideos.com/post/131049320330/trippy Whoever can help me will get some serious brownie points. They may or may not be redeemable if any of you guys come down Utah-ways. 25
ParadoxicalZen he/him Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 That's storming rad! all that is needed now is either a group or a Lightweaver/Shallan cosplay ^^
Ardjet Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 This amazing. Even without the rotating head I love it. Though that video is completely trippy at the end. Exactly what I'd expect from Pattern. +1!
Voidus Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 http://www.lisaboyer.com/Claytonsite/zinniapage1.htm I think that's the original source, some reverse image sources on the video thumbnail led to it. 6
Zas678 he/him Posted October 16, 2015 Author Posted October 16, 2015 Voidus gets 20 brownie points. Thank you!
+Slowswift Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 When I first realized that was you dressed as Pattern at the midnight release... *facepalm*
Brightlord he/him Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 (edited) This video has some kids showing how to make a wind-up fan toy using a rubber band, some paperclips, etc. Obviously, you'd probably want sturdier materials, but the engineering dynamics are probably about the same as those in the video you posted: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t-7MWeqmfSM (Probably a lot cheaper to try than shelling out the $47 for the plans on the sourced video) Those plans seem to favor clockwork, like this: http://www.explainthatstuff.com/how-clockwork-works.html Edited October 23, 2015 by Brightlord 1
