On the topic of suspiciously similar names:

The one who is not the usurper hears the story of the one who did not speak of obedience.

Roshar, Nalthis, and Sel

He's the one listening, but who's in the story?

The one that "did not speak of obedience" would be Kaladin, so if it isn´t a general satement the only time Kaladin did something that could be called telling him a story would be when he went to him after the assassination attempt, so Szeth, Dalinar, Adolin, Elhokar ect.

No, Kaladin is the one who is not the usurper (Kalad). Someone else is telling him a story about the one who did not speak of obedience.

Oh, that´s what you meant. Then I suppose it is when Hoid tells him the story of the Wandersail with Derethil, which is somewhat similar to Denth

There's someone even more similar...

Was there a hint in my first post?

It's someone from Sel, and I can't figure out who.  He mentioned it in the original clue.

Edit: Omin? Eshen? Ramea? Roial?

Yes, she did...

Nope to all.

They're not from Elantris-era Sel

I apologize. I was thinking about Pippin from Lord of the Rings. (Paragrin Took)

Shai/Shash? Ushnaka/Nakal?

Yeah, duh, Dereth, the guy who disagreed with Korath and Keseg, the father of the Shu-Dereth sect.

So, Kaladin (not Kalad the Usurper) listens to the story of Derethil Wandersail (not Dereth of Shu-Dereth).

Bingo.

...

I'm pretty sure he's Peregrine. My username actually comes from this ridiculously obscure 80's book called The Oval Amulet.

Peregrin actually.

When I did not cut, I caused tears. When I did cut, I brought unity and joy.

Edit: Re: Paragrin- Apparently I'm wrong on a whole lot of counts. Sorry about my confusion.

I'm thinking a Shardblade. Maybe Szeth's? He failed to cut Dalinar at the Assasination atyempt, and Elokhar cried afterwards. Then he cut, something? Maybe not.

Is the meaning of Cut literal? Like it actually cuts something? Or is it metaphorical, like Sorrow or Loss.

Posted (edited)

No on the Szeth idea. Yes, cut is actually literal.

The first "when" should be changed to "before", perhaps.

I feel like it actually failed to cut. Like it was used in an attack.

Nightblood maybe? I can't think of a Non-Cosmere sword or knife, so I think it's Cosmere. And Other than WoK/WoR, swords and knives aren't used much. Mistborn perhaps.

We're in the Cosmere, it wasn't Pattern. I guess I should have said this (it clarifies a little):

"Before I cut, I brought tears. When I did cut, I brought unity and joy."
