TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 I hope you don't already get what he's alluding to. Nope. I'm just trusting that I'll get the joke in due time.
Edgedancer he/him Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 Nope. I'm just trusting that I'll get the joke in due time. Good. you'll get there. No one tell her early, understood?
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 Good. you'll get there. No one tell her early, understood? Want a list of what I do know so the rest of it can remain unspoiled?
Edgedancer he/him Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 Want a list of what I do know so the rest of it can remain unspoiled? Sounds good.
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 Sounds good. Okay, I know.... The mists are Preservation Vin becomes Preservation later Sazed is the Hero of Ages, combines Ruin and Preservation to create Harmony Something about TLR being pretty chummy with Ruin? Something about Spook becoming The Lord Mistborn? Marsh doesn't end up well at all? Vin and Elend both die So....all of the major ones. But knowing Sanderson, there are more that will still surprise me.
ThirdGen Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 Yup - you'll be quite surprised to find that, in the world Spook set up, the salad fork goes on the other side. 2

TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 (edited) Yeah... that's pretty much the majority of the end game spoilers.Thought so. Though....I don't know. Reading spoilers on this site just make me want to read the actual books more, to see how those plot points are worked in and played out. Hearing spoilers from my siblings just annoys me. Maybe it's because they talk those spoilers TO DEATH, making the conversation a chore. You guys are much better about spoilers. Edit: ThirdGen-- That monster! Now if you want spoilers let me tell you how... Yeah...my siblings are the type to summarize the entire plot of a book you were planning to read, knowing you were planning to read it. And they do it in a way that's conversational, but the Wikipedia article would be more engaging and easy to follow. Though my mom always reads the last page of a book first, so they come by it honestly.

The second Alcatraz book knows how to treat people like your mother.

The second Alcatraz book knows how to treat people like your mother. I actually had to tell my sister to shut up when she started telling our mom all about The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane. It made her really mad, but I was right--that book is better the less you know about it going in. I tried to get her to read the first, but no luck.

On an random note, having watched the new episode of MLP I can confirm that the CMC's mutie marks really are garish and really don't fit their color scheme.

I listened to it as an audiobook on a road trip, the book only took two hours, but I spent most of that time trying not to cry. It's really hard to make me cry in a book, anything that can do that is considered amazing to me.

At the part where Bryce cuts Edward down and takes him home I started sobbing and didn't stop until well after the last page.
Kaymyth she/her Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 (edited) I'll take you up on that offer. Added you to my friends, so you'll get my profile feed and updates. Given that the Beta draft is going to get written during NaNoWriMo, I expect to have the story up by February at the latest. ...117,000 words. I really need to trim that down some. Thought so. Kaymyth she/her Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 I can just post again! Hooray! Uhhh, I feel honored. Isn't that like twice the word count NaNoWriMo asks for? Hah! Funny, because I'm always a little bit worried when I friend people that they'll be all, "What, no, I don't want this daffy ponywoman on my list! Off with you!" But nobody I've added has deleted me yet, so that's a thing. Ayup. Last year was when I started the project; I got my 50,000 words and wasn't done with the story. Unfortunately, without the NaNo pressure, I slacked off a lot. But then Shadows of Self loomed and I told myself, "Rosemary, you aren't allowed to read Shadows of Self until your rough draft is done." And then I went, "eeep!" and wrote faster. And now it's done. And I changed my mind about certain details partway through, so continuity is a hot mess, and some of the scenes I wrote during NaNo last year were just pure dross or need to be combined. And I know me; there's probably a lot of duplicated phrases in spots or bits in fight scenes that just aren't described clearly enough. And I kept forgetting minor characters' names and started sticking in bits that just said <Name>, so I sorta need to make a list during all of this. And this whole time, there's this piece of my brain that's been going, "What in the name of all the sparkly little gods do I think I'm doing? When the heck did I turn into a writer? Where did all of this self-discipline come from?!" Here are her Mistborn Memes, by the way.http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/40482-memefying-books/?p=334579 http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/40482-memefying-books/?p=343309 ...there are not enough upvotes in the world for this. 1

I admid to often having the same worries... and also having kicked people from ym friends list. Although, to be fair that were people I just plain had no clue who they were and i do prefer my frind list actually having people I like in it. Ah yes edditing. Sometimes I think what kind of edditing I would do with the RP if i were to overwork it... lots of work, especially in the early parts. The entire topic was essentially made for Twi's meme recaps, so if you want more meme goodness start from page 1 for the SA books and Warbreaker. Huh, I'm being very ninjay today it seems. Yeah, I generally don't add folks until I've had some sort of interaction with them on-board. Just going, "Oh, hey, I like this person's posts! I'm going to add them even though they have no clue who I am!" seems weird to me. RP is more of a collaborative writing exercise, and it's easier to edit by post/scene. The book-writing experience is entirely different, especially under the pressures of NaNo. The first draft is getting the words out, putting the events in place, and seeing what works. The second draft is where things start looking pretty. (I think. I mean, this is the first book-length thing I've ever written. I might just have no idea what I'm talking about.) I really need to start reading the other Cosmere books. I've been so wrapped up in Mistborn and my own fanfic writing that I haven't had the time. But I will. 1

True, true. I was mostly thinking about how I would behave if it was a novel. Cutting out stuff that went nowhere, streamlining the diferrent viewpoints, stuff like that. Although to be fair, we have shown to be masters of hindshadowing, aka taking what we have already writting and magically make it fit together perfectly with stuff it wasn't intended to be connected with. Would you be suprised if I told you they are all good?
