Arychnmerin. Describes the southern (at least I think it's southern) region of Diaemus. I got the name by semi-randomly typing in letters.

I noticed something about the planet's geography. Don't open the spoiler tag unless you want to have your mind blown, and not in a good way.

The main continent of Diaemus (the one most of us have laid claim in) is an altered version of Australia. There's even New Zealand.

The northern part is an altered version of Europe with a strip of water in the middle.

I warned you. Please don't downvote me.

Hmm... I knew those maps reminded me of something.

Also how large is mount Syoza Mckeedee?

It's a dormant caldera volcano about the size of Mt KIlamanjaro.

Congratulations! Have an upvote! You are at least 83% incorrect. :)

Been long enough that I've forgotten some of the details. The North east end is a distortion of the end of the Balkan peninsula, and it is one of the two most accurately identifiable pieces of coastline. I think I used a bit of coastline from Norway somewhere. I never got around to sourcing any coasts from Australia or New Zealand.

Got anymore guesses? ;)

Stormgate, you can find information about your areas here.

The blue-ish one is here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Humid_continental_climate(Sorry, something with my internet is spastic lately. You'll have to copy paste URLs.)

Your light grey is here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tundra

Your dark grey is here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ice_cap_climate

Haven't read them, so I don't know how technical or helpful they'll be, but I hope it helps.

Can I have the very center of the South Pole?

ChickenPlague already seems to have that territory, unfortunately (though he's marked by his old name, Dayblood, on the map.)

Do you want another area?

May I create a floating island? I wanted to make it next to Winter's southern territory, just below the Tropic of Capricorn. If not, then I'll take the islands at the equator, but the floating island would be better. Harder to get to, so of more use to what I want to do. I want it somewhere around 500-750 miles at the widest point.

Does it matter if it's over a body of water? The thing is, a giant stone is going to cause a massive shadow underneath it, and I don't wnat to upset whoever's land it is that's underneath. Doing it over a body of water (for reference, I was thinking of the bight to the East of Winter's), means that you're not throwing anybody's plans out. (Plus, you get a really awesome Bay in which it's basically night for nearly all the day, which has potential if anyone deliberately decides to build on that in the future.)

In terms of the in-world explanation for your floating island, I have to ask - how turbulent is the island? And does it always stay in the same spot? If the answer is - not at all, then could you do something closer to Cloud City? If the answer to either is yes, then you'd need some form of divine intervention, I think.

That is actually the place I was thinking I wanted to put it.  :D

If you want to use the space below it, notify me.

Because of the 12 emeralds, the wind doesn't affect the island, but severe lightning storms alter the magnetism of the island just slightly for a second, causing the island to move. It returns because of the magnetic forces of Diaemus. They live in really cool caves because of this. I'll describe those later.

Yes that is the main purpose of this thread. Just look at the map and tell which region you'd want that isn't taken. Eventually Young Bard will add you.

Can i stake the territitory of the small islands cfb and cfa and a large smattering of ocean connecting the two? Between 180 &30N to 150W &30N?

Im developing a crustacean based species that will live in trenches in the ocean.but will be able to cultivate the land as well.

Up to date. Sorry for the delay. Hopefully there won't be so large a gap next time.

Amazing, thanks for the update.

For the main Diaemus Project thread, see here.

Greetings, residents of Diaemus. This is where you can come to select your lands to rule over (and later, where you'll tell me what empires, cities and land features you have in your allotted space).

This is the map of Diaemus, as created by Sir Jerric, and up to date as of 1 October 2015.

(Coming Soon!)

Now, because I have no sense of beauty whatsoever, I decided to scrawl right over the top of what Sir Jerric has done, crudely carving out the sections that people wanted for them.

This is the most up to date version of mine.

So, if you would like to claim a piece, this is the place to ask.

Sir Marshall this is the world map with a link to the main thread. there is A LOT of space left, claim your area and it will soon be added by  The Young Bard, also feel free to make a species, and contribute to the biological section and the main thread.

have you read all info on the main thread yet?

I've read all the initial links from the main thread. I will attempt to select a portion on the map then...

Oh the color coding is Koppen climate classification. I wasn't sure what they meant at first...

Alright... So...

Is this spot okay to claim?

Part of it is under the floating island Chasmfiend asked for but if it's floating I assume the bit of water underneath can still be used, if just as a bay or something...

Sorry I haven't looked at this in a long time. You can claim the bay. Just a note- due to the floating island, the bay would likely be in darkness in the middle of the day. (This also would have the effect of keeping the water cooler than it's surroundings, leading to waves, currents and tides drifting towards the centre of that point. So it would probably be quite a stormy area. Also, anything in the surrounding bay, assuming it floats, would probably drift into the centre. Ocean currents really aren't my thing though, so if you want to investigate further, I'm afraid I wouldn't know more than that.

I'll update the map this evening - I'm a bit busy right now.
