Blackhoof Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 We've seen both Lightwards and Nighthound conscript random bystanders into their fights, but somehow I don't think that's what you had in mind. haha that is true, I was thinking more about two different things: 1) gangs: like modern gangs, but with Epics in charge, directing their minions in turf wars and gang fights over a single city 2) armies: where Epic despots create large forces of conscripted/recruited vanillas and send them against other cities, or use them to defend their own territory as Steelheart did. Now where's a country with far apart cities and lots of open space to maneuver armies... Well Twi's approved of WHIA and I agree with her on keeping in separate from Oregon, the Australians already sent to Astoria shouldn't be a problem since IIRC they were based in central Australia and basically no one lives there so there wouldn't have been much interaction anyway. So unless there are any objections from anyone I guess those interested in participating should start talking about plans, eg. what the time ratio will be, whose ruling where, etc. hmmmm...I wonder Yeah they are from Uluru, so they are basically the only Epics for a thousand miles in all directions.
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted October 30, 2015 Author Posted October 30, 2015 The only Epics for a thousand miles. Now I'm imagining them chasing after a fleeing tumbleweed, shouting "STOP! I WISH TO RULE YOUUUUU!" 5

"Stop tumbling forward at an average rate of once every 2.345 seconds! Only I the mightiest of all Epics shall rule you!" 2

I'd personally like time to pass a little shorter, because if large scale-battles play out we would want more to happen in less time. As I've expressed before, I'd love to rule over my home city of Perth!

As I've expressed before, I'd love to rule over my home city of Perth! Ok, any idea on what the timescale should be? 1:2 days 1:7 days? I'm used to the other RPs somewhat freer relationship with time so not sure what would be a good ratio. So so far it'll be: Adelaide: Voidus Perth: Mr.Mistborn And I think I'll throw at least one of my teleporting Epics in as a sort of freelancer so that the cities have a means of transport
Mashadar Mistborn he/him Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 I'll do Australia, though I'll need to make another epic first.
Voidus Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Don't forget if you ever need any ideas I have over 100 pages of them
Mashadar Mistborn he/him Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Truth to be told, I'm considering joining you in epic making. It sounds like fun. 1
Voidus Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Truth to be told, I'm considering joining you in epic making. It sounds like fun. It is excellent fun, I occasionally hold mock-mental battles where I decide who'd win out of a given pair, Jedi who can open doors without touching them, or Utility who can merge spoons and forks together and create the almighty Spork!
MrMistborn he/him Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 1:2 sounds good, I'll probably make some teleporters to act as messengers/soldiers. May keep Morpheus in Salem and create another to rule
Edgedancer he/him Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Remember when Teleporters were still considered a fairly rare power? (Insert old man remembers meme I can't make Right now.) To be fair I barely remember either. So how is that quick RP supposed to take place with everyone controling entire cities?
Blackhoof Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 We shouldn't overuse teleporters, we need to be careful about it I think.

To be fair I barely remember either. So how is that quick RP supposed to take place with everyone controling entire cities? Not sure what you mean? We shouldn't overuse teleporters, we need to be careful about it I think. Yeah that's why I was thinking it'd just be the one, perhaps someone with Blinks power to open portals rather than just a teleporter and they kind of just play all the sides.
MrMistborn he/him Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 I think it will focus less on interactions and documenting all interactions, rather focusing on all out warfare between cities and city management and epics working for different cities, with the RP focusing on the country as a whole. We could have individual threads for city interactions, but the main is the whole country
Voidus Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Can I take Sydney? Sure can, So that's: Adelaide-Voidus Perth-Mr.Mistborn Melbourne-Blackhoof Sydney-Venture Canberra could be either held by another player or else is either destroyed or also ruled by either Blackhoof or Venture, so that leaves Brisbane, Darwin and Hobart, with potentially some other players in smaller cities if needed or we can double up and have cities ruled by multiple players. So anyone else want to lay claim to a large swathe of spider-infested land from down under?
MrMistborn he/him Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Since Perth is very Isolated, can I take more of WA, or maybe some of the Nullabor? Also, is there any good reason why Salem seems a lot less active then the other Oregon cities?

Yeah that's why I was thinking it'd just be the one, perhaps someone with Blinks power to open portals rather than just a teleporter and they kind of just play all the sides. You mean the teleporter or the how is it supposed to work one? In case it's the later, I just wondered how you want to pull it of, given there's no way to hold up something resembling the usual RP structure with that pace over so many cities.
Voidus Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Something else I was just contemplating, should we give it a different title than just 'What Happened in Australia'? I was thinking it might help emphasize the separate nature of it from the WHIO RP's. Since Perth is very Isolated, can I take more of WA, or maybe some of the Nullabor? Also, is there any good reason why Salem seems a lot less active then the other Oregon cities? Maybe, depends how many people sign up at the start, WA is like half the country after all It's been held up a bit while we try to test out some more action outside the arena, sometimes people can't write for a while and it can hold things up a bit, it's also still trying to find enough momentum to get the overall plot moving since it's the newest thread.I'm hoping to push it into more motion now that we have another enthusiastic player though.
MrMistborn he/him Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 (edited) Thanks! I'd say when we are creating it and doing preparations, it could be called "What's about to happen in Australia", but we could have another name , something to do with Australia and War Edited October 30, 2015 by MrMistborn

There will most likely be a lot of planning going on if the idea goes ahead, so i suppose we'll work it out then? Edited October 30, 2015 by MrMistborn

Write by the seat of our pants? Not sure how it'll work out, it's mostly just a test to see how a RP with a bit more fixed rules might go, so the structure, rules and time ratio will probably change as we figure out problems. But also it'll probably have a bit of a different focus, more large scale conflicts, some battles between regular soldiers, perhaps some Epics hiding in the ranks to help turn the tide. So basically I have no idea. But I wouldn't be here if I was sane would I?
