There are models for how quickly an airtight room fills with carbon dioxide. This kind of scares me, but at the same time, it is nice that I can access this information so easily for my posts.

Looks like Converter will either be teleporting away or rescued within a few hours.

...Or killed, considering SilverDragon (I know him in real life) probably won't be coming back.

Well, she resurrects, so unless her weakness is in there, we can probably just say she resurrects somewhere else.  Then if Silver ever wants to come back, Converter can as well, but she's out of the way in the event Silver doesn't want to return.  I'm good with either option, so he's free to choose.

Ok, so here is my epic-

Hypnos.

Can make you fall into a very deep sleep, or put you into a state of hyper- awareness. Coming within 2 metres of him can cause you to fall asleep instantly. Can fall asleep instantly himself aswell, and has incredible healing powers while doing so. Has a vague sense of danger alertness. Can project various dreams into your mind, and if you accept them as real you fall into a never ending sleep, and Hypnos has power over you. Uses these dreaming people as slaves. Can affect how you perceive reality, causing paranoia and illusions in some cases. Can kill with sleep powers, as he can forcibly project numerous dreams into sleeping people until they either take it as real and become his slave, or their minds are overloaded and die. Sleepwalkers (his slaves) are slightly slow, but are stronger and tankier than normal human beings

In his mid- 20s. Olive skin, and purple or kaleidoscopic eyes. You can fall asleep lookin in them too hard. Tall, and very lanky. Has buzz-cut brown hair.

What do you think?

Okay, so how does that making people fall asleep work when they aren't within 2 metres and can he let people not fall asleep at that range. How strong is the healing factor and how exactly does the danger sense work, is it just some kind of spider-sense? I could also use some explanation on what that entire accept dreams as real bit means.

aww, that's sad :(

yeah, she can just go terrorise somewhere else on earth :P it works pretty well

Iconoclast will need a new potential third ally though.....

It is yeah.... I suppose that means we'll also have to figure something out to do with Wraith.

And thus started the fight over which faction would recruit Kenshin; Will Buttercup's competence be enough or will Iconoclast play of her annoyance at the city and GOOD, find out maybe in your Corvallis! :P

I was reminded of Winter's offer of a Chase/Iconoclast alliance, and I'm thinking that that would work.

She could drag him around the city at super-speed, and his healing would repair the inevitable damage his body would suffer.

One downside though, is that as he did with Firefly, he would stress that they were equal partners. He might even compliment her on how important and useful she is to his efforts (without really meaning it though) so ironically his smart-arse bullchull might backfire and trigger the weakness of an ally :P

The image of him getting dragged along by a car is pretty funny. :P

Oh and Voidus, does the C4 pony get your approval?

Oh yeah I completely forgot about that, yeah it looks pretty good. Just how I imagine the pony version of one of Nighthounds abductees should look.  <_<

That also reminds me:

Aaaaand this marks the first time a pony made me feel depressed.

Scribblers pony didn't?

And in the aftermath Iconoclast makes sure to thank Chase for her quick thinking and problemsolving ability, causing her to hate him forever. :P

Well, we already have an epic named Hypno, so you might want to choose a new name.

His powers are a little hard to understand the way they are laid out currently.  Something that might help is to separate out and describe his powers one by one, instead of just having a paragraph that describes some of the things he can do.  Check out some of the epic profiles in the Epics of Oregon thread for reference.

Right now I'm seeing:

  1. Sleep/Wakefulness manipulation - the ability to induce sleep or hyper awareness.  Seems to work at will, or automatically within a range of 2 meters.
  2. Danger Sense
  3. Healing Rest - Instant sleep with ability to regenerate while sleeping.
  4. Dream Manipulation? - This is where things start getting nebulous.  You might want to spell out the mechanics of this power a little more, and explain its limits.  Not sure if this is one power, or several powers working in combination.  This is also where he starts to sound a little OP (which isn't necessarily a problem), but adding some limits would make things more interesting in my opinion.  Also not clear how controlling dreams = mind control, or why his sleep walkers are stronger than normal people.

In general, I think he sounds like a cool character, though it's hard to tell when all he has at the moment is a power set.

Thanks so much for this. I've edited his powers a bit.

I've changed his name to Morpheus, after the Greek god of Dreams. I've gotten rid of the whole slaves thing. can no longer mind control. Only dream manipulation powers are that of the paranoia and perception of reality alteration, can project dreams while sleeping. This does not cause slaves, but he can create dreams so wonderful you never want to wake up. Also added a power similar to that of the actual mythological Morpheus's- he can appear in your dreams in any form, this can lead to inception-like events, but rarely. Often only for fear tactics or to stray people away from plans or locations.

A bit more on the character himself.

Quiet, but not shy. He is reserved and hides his plans from only his closest of allies, whom he does not have many of, more of a lone wolf type. He is cunning and manipulative. Tall and lanky, with olive skin. Often wears dark, round glasses to hide his purple, kaleidoscopic eyes, which he finds embarrassing.  Looks very "Nerdy" but is anything but.

Some of you said that you would think of which section he should go to, so which do you think, and can you give me any tips on who to contact to get started there, and what i need to do?

Thanks so much all for helping me

Well I can provide you with a run-down of each location:

Salem: A city ruled by a powerful dream Epic (so you might be stepping on his toes going here, but ask Voidus haha) that stages elaborate arena fights in dream-land between Epics.

Corvallis: a city ruled by an efficient and powerful group of Epics starts to slowly fall apart as their method of controlling the populace vanishes and outside forces invade. Less action-oriented.

Astoria: a city filled with over-powered Epics on the verge of all-out war.

Portland and the Dalles are both closed to new Epics, unfortunately.

It sounds like Corvallis or Salem would be the best place for him I think. Comatose runs Corvallis and Voidus is the GM of Salem, so further input on you joining either of those threads is up to them.

Salems been quiet for a while so I'd be happy for Morpheus to make his way there, either as a participant in the Arena or to just make mischief in the city.

On another note, MrMistborn made another thread elsewhere about potentially having a weekly update for the 17thShard about any noteworthy events going on in the forums. Now obviously we don't have the ability to organize something like that but one idea he mentioned was having a weekly update on what important events have happened in RPs which is something we can certainly make another thread for and I thought it would be a good idea for anyone who gets super behind and potentially for starting to keep a running log of events so newer players don't get too intimidated.
So what does everyone think?

Sounds like a good idea. Although a weekly update might look something like this:

-Each player made a single post in a single thread.

-Ponies and merriment was had

:P

So, Salem, hey? What's Salem like? How should I introduce myself there?

Well talk to Voidus, but keep in mind whether your character will be a fighter, like my character, Inhuman or a beaurucat, like Countdown or Sentry.

Well Soulcaster is the cities ruler, though he leaves most of the work to other people. He's an insanely overpowered Astral projector who can cause the consciousness of anyone, human or Epic to leave their body and travel to the Astral plane, a realm he has full control over. He uses this power to allow Epics and sometimes normal people to have fights to the death with each other, and then wake up having suffered no real damage, most of Salem revolves around the arena matches but there's a few characters who aren't participating in them starting their own storyline though that's been quiet for a little bit now so a new character might be a good way to jumpstart things again with any luck.

If you want to participate in an arena battle then I'm happy to create and RP as an opponent, otherwise there are a few players who have their characters that participate. If you'd rather something more story-oriented than just flat out fighting then I'd suggest talking to someone who has a character available to meet up which is I think:

Me (Meliability), Quiver(Sentry), Venture Mistborn(Countdown), RippleGlyf(Heartsleeve) and I think Mckeedee123 has someone free too.

I was hoping we could put our own little spin on it a bit. :P

-In Portland Red made some weird creepy references and everyone wants Nighthound to die.

-A new pony was made and it's awesometastic

-Also here is a collection of all the pugs that were posted this week.

Thanks for the info. Looking like I'll get started in Salem then. Nothing like a little more dreaming, eh? Do I have to introduce my character to the page in any way, or just bash into the town and storm rust up all in this bitch

Not really, just make sure you ask someone before you do anything with their character, other than that I think Twi made a page with some general guidelines so yeah go for it.

EDIT: Yes she did and here it is.

Well it is advisable to read through the thread first, to get a sense of how it all works and the flavor of the city and such.

Well there is that I suppose and Salems pretty short, but it's also pretty new so not much of note has happened :P
