Voidus Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 Is there a story behind those rhinos? Not so far as I know, but what kind of aspiring warlord wouldn't want acid-spitting rhinos? 1
Edgedancer he/him Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 Not so far as I know, but what kind of aspiring warlord wouldn't want acid-spitting rhinos? Good point. Probably the boring stuck up kind of warlord. Although I wonder if we can add in a rainworm's ability to survive being split in half. 2
Voidus Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 Good point. Probably the boring stuck up kind of warlord. Although I wonder if we can add in a rainworm's ability to survive being split in half. Or a turritopsis nutriculas ability to revert to a younger form when it gets old. Combine the two with perhaps a healing factor from an axolotl and you have an immortal acid-spitting rhino. 2
Mashadar Mistborn he/him Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 (edited) Or if you split it in half, you get two immortal acid spitting rhinos. Combine it with a bird and you get a flying immortal acid spitting rhino. Edited October 26, 2015 by Mashadar Mistborn 1
Voidus Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 Or if you plot it in half, you get two immortal acid spitting rhinos. Combine it with a bird and you get a flying immortal acid spitting rhino. And then you combine it with a sloth to make it almost completely useless. 2
Mashadar Mistborn he/him Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 And then you combine it with a sloth to make it almost completely useless. Twentydeaths!Lightwards strikes again. 1
Curious Anamaximder he/him Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 Twentydeaths!Lightwards strikes again. Sacharrine does not approve.
Edgedancer he/him Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 And then you combine it with a sloth to make it almost completely useless. But what if it was a hyperactive sloth? Alternatively we mix in some of the dinosaurs.
Voidus Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 But what if it was a hyperactive sloth? Alternatively we mix in some of the dinosaurs. At this point its made up of so many animals it'd be more mistwraith than anything.
Edgedancer he/him Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 At this point its made up of so many animals it'd be more mistwraith than anything. And thus we have our Epic Lordruler!
Voidus Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 And thus we have our Epic Lordruler! I guess if you mixed in a mimic octopus it could shapeshift, plus they're pretty smart so it might get something resembling sentience.
Edgedancer he/him Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 I guess if you mixed in a mimic octopus it could shapeshift, plus they're pretty smart so it might get something resembling sentience. The horror. I wonder if we could leave such a weapon in Lightwards' hands, even after several deaths. Now giving them to a couple of other Epics.

I'd say "so you reached that part" but Straff is such a constant string of disgust that such a comment could refer to anything.
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted October 26, 2015 Author Posted October 26, 2015 He almost makes Timeport look like a noteworthy woman's activist. I just reached the meeting between him and Elend, and Great Noodly One, i want to put him on the ATTD list. Or the And Then They Were Humiliated in Public Before They Died list. It doesn't help that the way he insults Elend reminds me of my mom--except she'd do it with a smile so she could pass it off as teasing. 3

Wonder how he'd get along with Andross Guile. Now I wonder what kind of horrible lectures Lucentia would put her children through, if she had any. 1
Edgedancer he/him Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 Straff makes Deathwish look like a feminist. Nothing makes Deathwish look like a feminist.
Kobold King he/him Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 If a woman and Straff Venture were the last human beings on Earth, humanity would go extinct because the woman would slit his throat in his sleep. And if there were any zombies or aliens left to watch, they would cheer. 1

Now I wonder what kind of horrible lectures Lucentia would put her children through, if she had any. Had to google that name. You know how she likes to play the victim? Imagine how she'd do it if her child got an 87% instead of a 97% on a test, said they didn't understand the material, and that they thought it was unfair for her to expect perfect grades on top of everything else they were expected to do, chores and whatnot. Imagine her going on and on about all she does for that child, how said child must not love her enough, how so many children have it worse and on and on until the child is apologizing for getting a low grade and even bringing it up. 2

To be fair, that's what I expected. I dunno, I doubt there would be any chores to do with all the servants around and all that, so that complaint sounds perfectly reasonable. (not) Maybe I'm reading her character wrong, but she strikes me as the type who, as a parent, would invent busywork for her children so she "wouldn't have to watch them doing nothing all day." And so she'd have something to hold over them if she wanted something to complain about.

Please, it's would not be busywork but important task to teach him leasons and let the child's personality grow into a obedient tool capable ruler in its own right.

"Pull weeds in the hot sun. It builds character." "Clean out my car for me. It builds character." "Copy edit my Facebook post. It builds character." Like that?

It builds character." Like that? Almost, just that pulling weed would be to menial a task for anyone related to her, making it reflect badly on her, and she'd never think that anyone could do the copy editing better than her. I guess it would be more like: "Execute that servant for breaking a plate, it builds character." "Subdue the new violent Epic in town, it builds character." You know, important tyrant stuff.
