Is this necro-ing? Oh well, I have a great quote from Brandon that I really want to share somewhere actually I already have but in the wrong thread xP.

Quote

“This is a hill that I will be willing to — maybe not die on — but at least take a few stabs upon”- Brandon Sanderson

I don’t know why this is so funny to me, but it is. (Wow how eloquent)

"He who lives more than one life has to die more than one death"

I don't know if I read the phrase somewhere or I invented it lol.

In Spanish the phrase looks better

"Why, I feel all thin, sort of stretched, if you know what I mean: like butter that has been scraped over too much bread."

Bilbo, The Lord of the Rings. Even as a small child, for some reason that quote made a big impression on me. I've remembered it ever since.

i have a lot so just bear with me here:

"Just pretend like you know what you're doing, and maybe you will." - Me

"I regret many things I've done, but most of all, I regret those moments I said to fear, 'You are my master.'" - S.D. Smith, The Green Ember

"You have to be odd to be number one." - Dr. Seuss

"People cry, not because they're weak. It's because they've been strong for too long." - Johnny Depp

"Either walk like a king, or walk like you don't care who the king is." -Anonymous

"Sometimes you think you want to disappear, but all you really want is to be found." - Anonymous

"All that is gold does not glitter. Not all those who wander are not lost. The old that is strong does not wither, deep roots are not reached by the frost." -Tolkien

This quote is just great. There are plenty of other amazing Tolkien quotes but this is the first one I could remember.

"I'm not a psychopath, I'm a high functioning sociopath! Do your research." -Sherlock Holmes

Do I need to explain why this quotes is amazing?

As he did so, a wind rose up around him, around the man who had been called lord, Dragon Reborn, king, killer, lover and friend.

The wind rose high and free, to soar in an open sky with no clouds. It passed over a broken landscape scattered with corpses not yet buried. A landscape covered, at the time, with celebrations. It tickled the branches of trees that had finally begun to put forth buds.

The wind blew southward, through knotted forests, over shimmering plains and towards lands unexplored. This wind, it was not the ending. There are no endings, and never will be endings, to the turning of the Wheel of Time.

But it was an ending.

-----

And it came to pass in those days, as it had come before and would come again, that the Dark lay heavy on the land and weighed down the hearts of men, and the green things failed, and hope died. And men cried out to the Creator, saying, O Light of the Heavens, Light of the World, let the Promised One be born of the mountain, according to the prophecies, as he was in ages past and will be in ages to come. Let the Prince of the Morning sing to the land that green things will grow and the valleys give forth land. Let the arm of the Lord of the Dawn shelter us from the Dark and the great sword of Justice defend us. Let the Dragon ride again on the winds of time.

(from Charal Driannan te Calamon,
The Cycle of the Dragon.

Author unknown, the Fourth Age)

He came like the wind, like the wind touched everything, and like the wind was gone.

(from The Dragon Reborn.
By Loial, son of Arent son of Halan,
the Fourth Age)

The End

of the Last Book of

"The wheel of time turns and ages come and pass, leaving memories that fade to legend. Legend becomes myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the age that gave it birth comes again. In one age, called the 3rd Age by some, and age yet to come, an age long past, a wind rose...the wind was not the beginning. There are neither beginnings nor endings to the turning of the wheel of time. But it was beginning."

--The Wheel of Time

"So yes, it had flaws, but what does that matter when it comes to matters of the heart? We love what we love. Reason does not enter into it. In many ways, unwise love is the truest love. Anyone can love a thing because. That's as easy as putting a penny in your pocket. But to love a thing despite. To know the flaws and love them too. That is raw and pure and perfect."

--The Name of the Wind

"I must not fear. Fear is the mindkiller. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. And when it has gone past, I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone, there will be nothing. Only I will remain."

Yeah, Dune is incredible. I love it.

But the Ender's Game/Shadow series will always have a special place in my heart.

"There are some dogs which, when you meet them, remind you that, despite thousands of years of man-made evolution, every dog is still only two meals away from being a wolf. These dogs advance deliberately, purposefully, the wilderness made flesh, their teeth yellow, their breath a-stink, while in the distance their owners witter, "He's an old soppy really, just poke him if he's a nuisance," and in the green of their eyes the red campfires of the Pleistocene gleam and flicker…

This dog would make even a dog like that slink nonchalantly behind the sofa and pretend to be extremely preoccupied with its rubber bone."

I'm equal parts amused and disturbed.

ohhh yeah! Eric, by Terry Pratchett. Rincewind is a rather incompetent wizard, so when he accidentally does magic it comes as a huge surprise.

"Here is your flaw, Shai'tan, Lord of the Dark, Lord of Envy, Lord of Nothing, here is why you always fail. It was not about me. It's never been about me."

It was about a woman, torn and beaten down, cast from her throne and made a puppet. A woman who crawled when she had to. That woman still fought.

It was about a man the love repeatedly forsook. A man who found relevance in a world that others would have let pass them by. A man who remembered stories and who took fool boys under his wing when the smarter move would have been to keep on walking. That man still fought.

It was about a woman with a secret, a hope for the future. A woman who had hunted the truth before others could. A woman who had given her life, then had it returned. That woman still fought.

It was about a man whose family was taken from him, but who stood tall in his sorrow and protected those he could.

It was about a woman who refused to believe she could not help, could not heal those who had been harmed.

It was about a hero who insisted with every breath that he was anything but a hero.

It was about a woman who would not bend her back while she was beaten, and who shone with a light for all who watched, including Rand.

It was about them all.
