Argh! This is nothing compared to you guys, but I'm just so annoyed right now. I pulled an allnighter last week to get top notch seats with my friends to our university's football game against our rivals. I was going home and visiting family eight hours away for thanksgiving and had all the plans to get back for the game via Greyhound.

So, tonight, 1am, my dad and I are sitting in the McDonald's parking lot, where the website told us the bus stop was. It was supposed to leave at 1:05 and we got there at 12:45 to have plenty of time. Come 1:05 and it still hasn't shown up. We start worrying and looking around. We check the site and it says the bus left a couple minutes before. Confused, we looked at the site again and found that they changed the stop to a gas station on the other side of the freeway and that the bus left a whole 10 minutes before it was supposed to. We got on the freeway to chase the bus for a good 45 minutes and couldn't catch up to it, so we turned back. So I've definitely missed the game, but football's football; I can easily watch it again. I'm more annoyed at all the time and effort and money this took just for Greyhound to change the stop last minute and ditch me.

But there's a chance I won't, that I'll get a job and screw it up. A good chance.

What is this I was so confident earlier, and now I'm wondering if I'm even capable of adulting.

It's a new experience, and as such it is frightening... But that has nothing to do with your abilities our whether your mother is right. I can't say "don't let it bother you" since in my experience, the apprehensive certainty of my impending doom just happened and I could not control it. But I can say that it is not an indication of failure and it will be all right.

From what I've seen, I don't think many people are really capable of adulting. However, I feel like you are not one of them. You are amazing and kind and you will find a job.

Remember that advice I gave you earlier on lists? Did you try it? If so, was it helpful?

I'll try it later on, though it was helpful before.

*hugs Twi lots* You will make it through this. Okay? *hugs again*

I've decided that, to make her happy, I'll apply for one Pacific Northwest (Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana) job for every three jobs elsewhere in the US. I've applied for jobs in Denver, Grandville, and Huntsville, so today I applied for the stupid Boise job. I found a job in Beaverton, OR that I'll apply for later on. For now, I need another state or two.

As for the fear of adulting thing…well, I've had Jeremiah 29:11 ("'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you; plans to give you a hope and a future'") pop up on both Facebook and Tumblr, so I'm taking that as a sign that everything will be okay. I'll just have to believe my destiny isn't to be the cosmic Butt Monkey.

Thanks for reassuring me, everyone. :)

It's a good job. :P

And this morning, I realized that what happened, basically, was this:

Got the whole song and dance yesterday. Thank you, Tangled, for giving me a horribly catchy frame of reference for this sort of manipulation.

I don't have any amazing words of encouragement this time, so instead, just listen to this.

I have a cold.  It's not a bad cold, but it's still annoying.  And I had a cold over Labor Day weekend, too, so this is the second extended holiday weekend in a row that I've been sick.

From the French ambassador to the U.S.:

These are the foundations of our model of society that the terrorists seek to destroy: Yesterday journalists and Jews; now ordinary citizens whose only crime was to enjoy life on a Friday night in Paris.”

.

Again, Jews aren't counted as ordinary citizens.

..............

Oh and Twi? Adulting is terrifying. You just have to take a deep breath and be brave. It'll be fine.

I find your choice of meme interesting since it was Loki in Avengers in Germany drawing Hitler parallels. "There will always be men like you".

I didn't think that was Hiddleston in his Loki role….though I could be wrong.

And I chose Hiddleston because 1) he has the perfect "I can't even" face and 2) IRL, he's a super freaking nice guy and seems like the type to shake his head in dismay at the French ambassador's choice of words. :)

I just associate Hiddleston with Loki. Maybe it's the longer hair here?

And yeah. He's great. :)

Edit: it's not the choice of words but the intent behind them that worries me. I'm nitpicking because its an important distinction.

Yeah, I am now only starting to get over a cold I've had all week. Makes me somewhat irritable, especially sense I had to go and get some Alka-Seltzer Cold and Cough. I don't like taking medicine, which is going to suck as I get older and have to take a bunch of pills  <_<

I'm on cold meds, but I'm not sure how much they're helping.  I don't want to take Sudafed because it makes my heart race, so I'm taking the subpar stuff.

It's an inevitability, I'm afraid.  I've come to terms with the fact that my body's reaction to having my (very malfunctioning) gallbladder removed has made me dependent on Omeprazole to keep my stomach from digesting itself for the rest of my life.

Ah. The way I saw it, the choice of words betrayed the intent behind them. A different choice in words could've concealed the intent, or put a different spin on it, but to say it the way he did made his thoughts clear in a pretty eyebrow-raising way. A change in wording wouldn't have changed the intent, not at all, but putting his thoughts out there in the open like that adds a whole new level of concern, IMO.

I totally hear you. I was thinking wording more like "oops he used a word he didn't realise was racist" kind of thing. But yeah, we're on the same page.

Europe, on the other hand, seems not to be. Hope they get their act together soon.

On a different note, I suck at adulting and am going to be miserable forever.

Hugs, anyone? :(

I doubt that very seriously, but here's a hug anyway!

I feel like a loser asking this but....can you please tell me why I'm not going to fail at life?

The people I usually rely on for emotional support are offering practical advice instead, and then getting angry when I don't react well.

Thanks for the hugs.
