Hi everybody! (hi doctor nick!)

I've been lurking around for a few months, reading up on all the amazing theories and subtle easter-eggs throughout The Cosmere books but now seems a good a time as any to make one of these threads. So hey, I'm Skitter, a 23 year old female from Southern California and I'm super excited to get to know you guys! My username/handle comes from the webserial Worm by Wildbow and you all should go read it and be as emotionally devastated as me. Cool :D

Oh, Mononoke! Awesome!

(I know, I know, not her name, whatever)

Anyhow, welcome! Your the latest in a long line if people to suggest Worm, so I really need to get around to reading that...

Anyway, welcome! So...mind if I ask what your favourite cosmere book is?

It's amazing and long as hell and an emotional Rollercoaster. The first few arcs are kind of rough writing wise but once he finds his place it's incredible. Thank you for the welcome!!!

As for my favorite, I think it's the original Mistborn. Like most people it was my first foray into the Cosmere and it just captured me. Although it's hard to not also say Stormlight Archive because man do I love extremely long fantasy books. What about you??

Welcome, welcome! I love the Princess Mononoke image you're using for your profile picture. That was the first anime I ever saw...geeze, something like 15 years ago. The beginning of a great journey!

Have you read the any of the other Cosmere books/novellas/short stories as well? I find Warbreaker doesn't get enough love!

I have to back up Titan on this. Warbreaker is, far and away, my favourite book, and one which is somewhat underappreciated I feel.

Same with me! Kiki's Delivery Service was the first anime I ever watched, I was like 10. Changed my life hah.

Warbreaker, The Emperor's Soul, Sixth of Dusk and Shadows of Silence in the Forest of Hell are the only Cosmere works I haven't read. I'm planning on picking up Warbreaker as soon as I get paid. Honestly Sanderson's name being attached to anything grabs my attention. He is far and away my favorite author. I wanna start reading the Reckoners as well.

What???????? Oh my goddddddd. That's the best news. I have the next three days off so I know what I'm doing. I still wanna buy it to have a physical copy but for now I will definitely read it. Thank you so much!!

The Emperors Soul is also pretty good, I'd recommend it for your next Sanderson book after Warbreaker.

Duly noted. Admittedly I wasn't wild about Elantris but I'm interested in the premise of something entirely different on the same planet.

Glad to see more Worm fans on the forum; currently going through Arc 25, know about any support groups for people recovering from fictional character deaths?

You have my preemptive condolences haha. It's brutal on one's emotions. The only place I found some solace was the subreddit /r/parahumans. It's a pretty active community and the members are super nice!

Have a stamp of approval for having great taste. (I really need to keep reading worm... Im on 6.2)

Definitely read The Emperors Soul when you find it *cough*I may have found it online*cough* . It is a fantastic short story.

Anyway, welcome.

I like Emperor's Soul better than Elantris, and Warbreaker is his best overall.

It's kinda funny how the Introduction forums are now filled with Warbreaker. I remember when fights broke out about whether Warbreaker or Mistborn should be read first...

Mistborn.

since you brought it up... but most people seem to start on mistborn anyway. Not sure why, actually. I think it helps get Sanderson's style across much better, though, so that Warbreaker doesn't seem so weird. It's good, but there were a lot of parts I had to say "what the heck?" about. Just sayin'.

le sigh

I've had this argument so many times before, so I believe I'll skip it. I do respect your opinion, though.

I think Mistborn being a completed trilogy all by itself definitely helps it's case for being the foray into Sanderson. I know the chronologically it's not the first via the Cosmere but it's still super newbie friendly. Although this is admittedly my opinion having not read Warbreaker yet. I don't even know the premise haha

You young whippersnappers. I remember back when I joined, I was the only one who recommended Warbreaker! In the rain! Uphill, both ways!

...though I do think Mistborn is better to start with. Which is neither here nor there.

Sorry, couldn't resist.

In terms of actually liking the books, I have lost the linear spectrum most people think in, so I like Warbreaker and Mistborn more than eachother, in different parts of the spread...

I think I like Warbreaker lefter than Mistborn. It works in my mind.
