Delightful Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 Okay there's probably somewhere else I should complain about this but.... Why is shipping to Australia $100???? Dude I just want a $20 shirt! 3
Bort he/him Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 T-shirt and a hoodie to the UK was going to be $160 (for shipping only). I emailed Brandon's website to ask about alternative shipping methods, and got a very friendly response from Kara. It seems their site is supposed to have USPS shipping as well as FedEx, but it doesn't show up for international customers. I'll let you know when I receive a further reply from her - she said she would see what she could do to arrange cheaper shipping. 2
Delightful Posted August 10, 2015 Author Posted August 10, 2015 Thanks You'd think there's enough non-US Sanderfans to have dealt with this before though.
Left he/him Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 Which shirt did you get?? Sorry I have no helpful input, just curious
Orlion Blight he/him Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 Thanks You'd think there's enough non-US Sanderfans to have dealt with this before though. Maybe, but we spend more money
Mestiv he/him Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 I remember orderinng something a bit bigger than a t-shirt from Australia to Poland and I paid less than $20 for shipment. Prices for shipping must be so high, because they are delivering from Cosmere, so the package must go through the Shadesmare 2
Delightful Posted August 10, 2015 Author Posted August 10, 2015 (edited) Which shirt did you get?? Sorry I have no helpful input, just curious I want Stick and Bridge Four, but I'm not getting either unless I can work around the shipping issue. *grumble grumble*Maybe, but we spend more money Yeah but, willingly? Delightful Posted August 10, 2015 Author Posted August 10, 2015 Ok here's a question for Americans who've ordered from the store: did it take 2-3 weeks to arrive as the site advises, or is that a safety net and it realistically takes a couple days?

Depends, my shirt arrived pretty fast (less than a week, I believe), while my books followed closer to the time-frame given. (I got one just regular, it might have taken a week and a half. The personalized one I got for my friend took around seven weeks)
Kestrel she/her Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 Ok here's a question for Americans who've ordered from the store: did it take 2-3 weeks to arrive as the site advises, or is that a safety net and it realistically takes a couple days?It takes about that long, yeah. Especially for personalized books; I ordered one for a friend and it took over month. Needless to say, I was late for her birthday but she was overjoyed none the less! I ordered Legion and Skin Deep too recently and I think it took about two weeks, maybe a week and a half. The reason for the price is probably because of customs, airfare, and the fact that Sanderson is (as far as I know) not shipping this with a huge company like Amazon.
Mestiv he/him Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 And how much does shipping inside US cost? Maybe we can organize help for those outside US. Have someone from US order an item with reasonable shipping fee and then send it to another user but using a cheaper way?
Bort he/him Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 Brandon ships via FedEx, which I'd say is a pretty huge company. Customs on a single t-shirt and a single hoodie is not going to push the shipping cost up to anywhere near $160. It's the air fare we'd be paying for, ironically because our parcels are small, we are paying more for it when compared to someone who ordered, say, a box of goods by comparative weight, I mean. Sending 20kg of t-shirts will cost a hell of a lot more than sending 20kg of hammers. Mestiv, thanks for the offer, but I'm told there should be a USPS option on the store, and that Kara (one of Brandon's assistants) is looking into it.

I am actually trying to organise this with American friends. It's just frustrating that its necessary.

No, I meant that its only a few assistants doing it, not a huge business. Amazon uses FedEx as far as I know as well.

Claincy he/him Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 (edited) Did you get that amount from the shipping estimate widget when looking at your cart or the actual cost when you were paying for it? Because I'm getting similar ~$100 estimates from the estimater (for books or apparel) but in the past when I've placed orders for books the total shipping cost has been ~14-16. Around $100 doesn't make any sense to me. Edit: Went through to the actual checkout and saw the same prices there. Edit again: I went to a couple of other American online stores to check postage costs and got around 20-30 so this appears to be specific to Brandon's store. I think there's gotta be some sort of issue or bug going on here. Edited August 11, 2015 by lord Claincy Ffnord

Claincy he/him Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 (edited) Looks like they fixed it There's another shipping option "First class international" available that's far more reasonably priced. As in <$20 for small orders. If you put too much in one order the option isn't available though. Edited August 17, 2015 by lord Claincy Ffnord 1
BenevolentTyrant he/him Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 *reads thread title, becomes concerned for Delightful's sanity* *realises it's the other kind of shipping* *stays to complain about shipping prices to Australia* Okay there's probably somewhere else I should complain about this but....Why is shipping to Australia $100???? Evil_Reptile Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 I'm lucky enough that my house is like half an hour from the U.S. border, so I can just get it shipped to the border for 75 bucks cheaper. I can't imagine that getting something across the border costs that much. It seems very strange to me.

I wanted to order something as well, if I can get myself to it.

Also, what makes you think Canada? I could technically be in Mexico. Or in international waters.
Erai Sedai he/him Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 where in Australia?? it's only 11 bucks for me and I'm in Western Sydney. Unless you're more out in the sticks..
Haelbarde he/him Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 Woo! At some point I've been planning on getting a bunch of hard covers from the store. The cheapest shipping seems cheaper that when I last looked, so that's good.
