I mean I can change his power so that he cannot make bonds with Epics, and his muscle weakening is not as effective against Epics as it is against humans.

I don't really mind the general muscle weakening on other Epics but the bond would essentially make him the center point of any story he joins, either because he just walked up to let's say Rainmaker and the Queens, while they interrogate Converter and involes them in a short talk caiming he knows something about Insight and congratulations he has just taken control of most of the powerful Epics in town. Otherwise, if they do know about his powers there's again not really a reason for anyone not to simply kill him, before he turns into a problem.

So they get cherries, at least :P

yeah I completely agree, the bond is very strong when used on influential and powerful Epics.

But when used against vanillas, it isn't much different from simply being an Epic with any decent offensive power and forcing them to do what you like. Or what Nighthound does.

and personality-wise, it seems like he isn't interested in power. He just wants to live his life comfortably and just wants enough freedom to kidnap whatever vanillas are necessary to help. Seems like he would go well in Corvallis- a little extra control over his servants. Maybe he can be a neutral Epic in all this who just wants to be left alone.

I see. :P Are they nice black and white pencil drawings, color photographs, color drawings? Will the deluxe edition have a mini graphic novel included, or a fold-out poster?

A day in the life of Polarity:

To whomsoever finds this diary,
Good day to you, I don't know if I will even keep this diary, I'm not entirely sure what compelled me to write it but if you're reading this then it obviously remained intact long enough to reach your hands somehow.
My name is Polarity, I had another name once but I don't use it anymore. Not since a red light bestowed power upon me. As you may be able to guess, I am an Epic. More specifically I am an Epic with magnetic powers. I can hear your exclamations already, 'oh that's cool' you must think 'she can control metal like Magneto!'. If only that were true. Instead I have the ability to make things that I touch magnetic, I can't twist magnetic fields in the air to freely control metal like your favourite comic book villain, I just make things magnetic.

This was my day.

I'd woken up ordinarily enough, I lived in a reasonably large house, moreso when you considered that I was the only resident but it was hardly the mansion that many Epics preferred. But still my abilities while not particularly useful or impressive did find some regular use from other Epics in town so I'd collected a few favours here and there, one of which was this house.

Unfortunately my morning was soon interrupted by a rapid thumping on my door. A quick peek through the curtains revealed a group of four men holding rifles.
This was not the first time one of the local gangs had tried to kidnap me. Unfortunately they seemed to have a much higher opinion of my abilities than Calamity had, believing I could create magnetic shields that would pull bullets from mid air.

Now this might sound like something I could do but you need to take into account how fast bullets travel, I could maybe divert a bullet by a centimeter or two, it's occasionally saved my life but it's hardly enough to rely upon.

Scampering quickly around the room I brushed my hands on everything I could find, imparting strong fields to everything. A few things shifted around a little as their fields repelled each other but most of them stayed still, gravity and friction proving the stronger forces.

A crash through the door announced that the men had grown tired of knocking and had broken in. They all rushed into the room, rifles drawn, which was particularly stupid because if I was as strong as they thought I was then rifles wouldn't be much of a threat to me.

I held my hands up placatingly as they surrounded me.

"You're coming with us, resist and we'll have to do them Reckoners a favor and off you now."

Someone like me isn't even worth the time of those pointless terrorists. I mused, wisely choosing to remain silent.

"Looks like you understand then, good. Don't try anything funny, even if you try to make our guns shoot us or something there's four of us and we know you only do metal not people"

"If I could make your guns shoot you don't you think I'd have done that already?" I sighed as the leader nodded to two of the others, completely ignoring me.

All four closed in carefully, lowering their guns and approaching with bare hands. It would have been the smart move if they were actually fighting a metal manipulator. It turns out however that with a little thought and planning I'm not completely useless after all.

As the two men behind me grabbed onto my upraised hands I sent a thrust of power into them both, charging both of their bodies with a field opposite that of what I'd charged the rest of the room with.

Two lamps immediately flew into one of them while the other was unlucky enough to be standing right next to a chair that promptly tackled his legs.

Moving quickly forward I jumped into the two in front, including the leader of the little gang and tackled them both to the ground where they remained stuck.

My fields may not have been strong enough to bend bullets from a distance but put two of them right next to each other and outside of an Epic there weren't many people who could pull them apart.

"Do a little more research next time fellas" I quipped as I picked myself up off the ground. "Don't worry though I won't kill you, I know a guy who likes to play with men who think they're tough, he'll be around to pick you up later."

Leaving with a cheerless wave I stepped through my broken door before leaning against my wall and taking out my mobile.

"Garett? Is He there? Good, let him know I got attacked by some thugs again, they're at my house if he wants to go pick them up. Remind him not to leave a mess. Also if you could bring a door when you get them and put that in? That'd be great."

That piece of business taken care of I walked down the street to visit a few local businesses. While not largely useful to me it turns out that being able to magnetize anything I touched did provide some use to the locals, people who eventually trusted an Epic enough to trade some food, drinks or whatever else they were selling in exchange for some extra strong magnets, some just wanted me to stick something to something else, others wanted me to fix their generators (Which rarely required magnetic prowess but  I got the requests so often that I'd learned how to fix them anyway) and a couple tried to pay me just to not destroy their stores, the last I always refused. I really didn't want to go stepping on one of the local slumlords toes by taking away his protection racket.

Work went smoothly for the most part, I got hit on a couple of times and left a few people belts stuck to their shoes but for the most part people were respectful and usually somewhat confused. Most Epics, even others with powers more useless than mine did not 'trade' or for that matter even talk to normal people like them. Epics threatened, injured and murdered their way to whatever they wanted, but as for me, while I found dealing with people to be incredibly annoying it just wasn't worth the effort of trying to hurt them.

A couple of people were talking about some new group of Epics in Portland who were riding around on dinosaurs but when it came to dealing with rumours about Epics you learned to take them with a grain of salt. Half were invented on the spot just for a good story, the other half was usually the Epic in question exaggerating their own story to sound more impressive.

Epics were weird like that.

Finishing up with the last business of the day (Someone had wanted me to magnetize their mannequin to the floor so it didn't keep getting stolen) I returned to my house to find that my door had been replaced by a bright purple one. Suppressing a brief flare of rage towards Garrett, I entered and found that at least that was as far as his practical joke had went this time. Half of my entrance room had been removed, Garrett apparently deciding it was easier to just take the furniture that had stuck itself to the gang as well as the men themselves.

Well at least He hadn't come personally and flayed the men right there, the last time had left a bloodstain in the carpet that had yet to come out.

Settling in to my favourite chair with a bowl of cocopops I pulled a small blanket over me and watched what passed for tv.

So, that was my day. I hope that you, future reader enjoyed it. I don't really know how people sign off in diaries but I suppose I'd opt for something different even if I knew so...
My name is Polarity and I hope you don't get eaten.

Is that capitalized He at the end on purpose? Because it totally made me think of HIM.

I couldn't think of a creepy enough Epic name so I just went with the capitalized 'He' :P

That said feel free to picture 'Him' as the above.

I'm back, baby!

I guess that not a whole lot has happened around this subforum since I left, huh? Is it that most of us have been away in one way or another? Pretty sure I read somewhere that Twilyght has been, anyway.

Alright. That's enough small talk on my part. Time to get down to business. (Sunglasses emoticon except I'm on my phone and forgot the cheat code thingy)

The Dalles, at least, needs a little closure for the day. Day 1 has lasted a reeeeally long time. I think OC/Deathwish can be resolved within about four posts. I don't know about those other ones.

Yeah we've been trying to finish up the days for Portland and the Dalles for a while now but they seem to be dragging on a bit.
Ah well, a lot's happened I guess.

And has been held up by yours truly. -_-

Today I'm finally finishing up some of the work that's been occupying my time and mind, do I'll try to post for a character or two.

HIM or He sounds treatening the first couple of times but after enough characters you get sick of playing the pronoun game and notice that it is actually a little bit silly. :P

On the note of getting things done, has anyone heard from Fatebreaker? To play fair I also sent him a pm asking about his post in Portland but I don't thing he even read it, although he was on.

I found it quite pleasing. The "...and then they died" line was a lovely touch.

That's good to know. ;) By the way the two ponies from the last panel and the lila one with Shiny Sparkle are the result of pushing the random button and taking the first result I got. Somehow I actually like the one with Shiny Sparkle, who knows maybe it will end up giving me inspiration for something..

A pitty, I may have had given a terribly witty answer, if someone asked me and I wasn't just giving out trivia.  I might dub the lila one Soulless

So you're saying a ship between the two would be called Soulless Sparkles?

That's one option, others would be Soul Sparkles or sparkling Soul.

No need to tell us we need closure on day one. We're just trying to get to that point. :P

Oh, sure, I know that. :)

I was just thinking of having us definitively decide that the situation in the clinic is over so that everyone can leave and write their final posts. Come to think of it, though, that's probably what Kobold's next Arsenal post was going to do.

Indeed it is. I'm doing a Deathwish response right now; I'll probably send it to you so you can post it as a collab, along with the Orange Crush segment you've already written.

What does Lieutenant Fawkes look like, by the way? I need to know because reasons. <_<

Oh! Um...

She's a professional to the end. I pictured her blonde with a blonde buzz cut and in her early thirties. No makeup or anything.
