I was thinking about when TenSoon absorbed a pig to give more muscle mass to his horse body in HoA, and wondered if there were any limit to the total mass he could wield. Because if not, a clever Kandra could commission a very large True Body out of metal and make a very large body with tons of muscle mass and pretty much make the Blessing of Potency irrelevant. Thy would be giants and rival even the largest koloss in size and strength.

Well Mistwraiths can be mistaken for small hills so I don't believe there is a maximum to what they can have other than the fact that it would become unwieldy pretty quickly. The square-cubed law is the bane of many awesome fantasy monsters.

I now have a mental image of a True Body kandra gundam.

If they have a good titanium skeleton, they could plausibly build a pretty huge body in porportion. It's fine since they can scale the bone diameter to their target body size, as long as the self-weight of the bone doesn't get in the way.

And then they have trouble squeezing themselves into the Homeland.

Square cubed law?

Square cubed law?

This principle states that, as a shape grows in size, its volume grows faster than its surface area. When applied to the real world this principle has many implications which are important in fields ranging from mechanical engineering to biomechanics. It helps explain phenomena including why large mammals like elephants have a harder time cooling themselves than small ones like mice, and why building taller and taller skyscrapers is increasingly difficult.

I would imagine that the limiting factors would be the Square Cubed Law (as above), as well as the actual size of the individual muscles.

If the muscles are set at "human normal" size but growth adds more of them, then anything bigger than a medium horse/10ft Koloss is going to have to be constructed of a series of bones rather than oversized ones, which I imagine would limit strength (and be very difficult to control... imagine an arm with 4 joints between the shoulder and wrist)

I think a master manipulator of the human form (muscles and bones in general) wouldn't have much trouble improvising more efficient ways to move a massive body without giving up its usefulness and range of motion. Brandon could definitely think it up

on a related question, i wonder how much mass they could shed while retaining humanlike intelligence. could they impersonate something as small as a mouse and retain enough brain cells to be themelves? that could have more applications than becoming giants.

also, could they shed the excess mass and leave it aside to reabsorb it later, without needing to eat? that would help

100% agree that a Kandra like Tensoon could make it work, but if the maximum muscle size is set then he would end up with a very non-human form...

There is a minimum size and I would imagine it is a medium sized dog. The blessings would require a fair sized animal and I would think a cat would be to small.

DRAGON KANDRA!!

I wonder what abilities you could Spike from a Dragon...

I wonder what abilities you could Spike from a Dragon...

Didn't know there were any ,but I guess at least the basic stuff. Dragon strength,speed,sight,etc... Basic stuff you could get from spiked animals.

Wonder what would happen if you made a kilos or gave a kandra a spike with blessing of dragon strength might help with size controll .

What effect would that have on kandra sentience I wonder? It's the human attributes in the Blessings that help them regain enough of their lost humanity to allow for higher order thinking IIRC.

And as inhuman they are by default as mistwraiths they're probably still more human than dragon.

Considering a dragon was either the recipient or sender of the letter, (I cannot remember which) they are at least at a human level of intelligence.

They probably are, but the Blessings themselves do not grant the intelligence as an attribute, IIRC, it's the increase in humanity due to the spikes coming from human victims. The spikes themselves only contained things like physical strength, emotional stability, and the like.

I wonder what effects increasing dragonic attributes in a kandra would have to their spiritwebs . . .

How did this discussion turn to dragon hemalurgy? Are there dragons in the cosmere that we've seen? I haven't read all the cosmere books so I couldn't be sure.

One of the few things we seem to know about Yolen (homeworld of Hoid and the Shards) is that dragons are a thing.

I mean, that series is named Dragonsteel and all.

I was thinking more along the lines of scaly skin, firebreathing...
