TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted May 31, 2015 Author Posted May 31, 2015 His charming smile removes her stress, Hang on is he wearing Autumn's dress? Maybe we should take time to rethink this... What? You WANT her dating Deathwish? 2
Voidus Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 Well it might be better than that last debacle,Oh you mean when she dated Shiny Sparkle? 2
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted May 31, 2015 Author Posted May 31, 2015 Maybe we should try another song, like "Can You Feel the Love Tonight." There's a certain Epic Who is still in jail Vondra put him there to keep him From going off the rails But now all that is over Autumn's there to find Her buddy Jack is murderous no longer Love's the tie that binds... 2
Comatose he/him Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 So, I'll be leaving Monday morning for three weeks. Logic and I are working on finishing up Freq's interactions with Sunspot tomorrow, so the only plots I'm involved in that aren't tied up are Hypno and Emma, correct? Or am I forgetting something? Yup! And with our current pace in Corvallis, the Hypno scene can probably wait until you are back. Have a good three weeks! As a side not, my husband is currently reading Steelheart for the first time, and as I was reading over his shoulder, I saw that when describing Nightwielder, he says "and like all incorporeals, he could fly at a steady speed." I think this means I need to rethink how Insight's power works a bit, but it shouldn't be too hard. Regardless, I figured it was an interesting tidbit to keep in mind for any other incorporeals we write. 1

So my plan for an incorporeal who couldn't fly and was still affected by gravity is a no go? Well he was going to plummet into the earths core about 2 seconds after finding out he had powers so I guess it doesn't matter that much.

Unrelated, but I was meaning to ask you: What would Taylor do if she were interrupted by a fellow shapeshifter named Kanye? (I have no intention of introducing another Epic, let alone one named Kanye. I was just curious.) 1

Otherwise, incorporeals would instantly fall through the planet.
Voidus Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 (edited) I can see why Brandon included that, though. Otherwise, incorporeals would instantly fall through the planet. That's half the fun though. I had so many plans for good old Everfall. Edited May 31, 2015 by Voidus
Shattered he/him Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 (edited) I swear, it's like the Reckoners trilogy is just Brandon Sanderson sending a personal message to Marvel and DC: "This is how you do superpower stories, you slontzes." Edited May 31, 2015 by Shattered Logic 3

He has said that many of the powers he gets come from deconstructing superpowers he's seen elsewhere. 2

A fair bit of Brandons books are deconstructions of the genre(Mistborn-The Heroic Journey, Elantris-Zombies, Rithmatist was I believe based on RTS games like starcraft), one of the reasons he's so awesome. I love stereotypical fantasy as well (There's a reason it became a stereotype, it's fun to read) but Brandon always adds something new to it. Edited May 31, 2015 by Voidus 1

+Slowswift Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 I'm back from a break, anything I missed? NO YOU MISSED NOTHING DO NOT REREAD OLD POSTS TAKE IT FROM ME I HAVE EXPERIENCE IN THIS AREA THAT WAY LIES MADNESS 1
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted May 31, 2015 Author Posted May 31, 2015 Maybe a few incorporeal Epics like Everfall chose to fall through the center of the Earth just to see what would happen?
Kobold King he/him Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 Maybe a few incorporeal Epics like Everfall chose to fall through the center of the Earth just to see what would happen? And if the experience managed to kill them somehow, or they reemerged in the middle of post-Calamity China or another demilitarized country, then David might never have heard of them. 1
Mckeedee123 he/him Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Yeah, or just like being touched by someone, Potassium is pretty easy to set off like that. Well, I only have my rusty lessons from High School Chemistry to guide me, so I assumed you would have to throw liquid water on it in order to set it off. In that case, let's make the statue out of Calcium. What? Are you going to say he's in danger of undergoing Helvetica Scenario now?
Kobold King he/him Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 By the way, is it Reader's nose that's injured, or another body part? I can't quite remember.

According to , he'd be able to make it through the Earth, but due to the Coriolis effect, he might not land in China. But he'd still make it through the earth. Edited June 1, 2015 by mail-mi
Kobold King he/him Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 He should have put Reader in a garbage can, come to think of it... 1
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted June 1, 2015 Author Posted June 1, 2015 He should have put Reader in a garbage can, come to think of it... To make some grumpy pun about "taking out the trash"? I approve. 1
Kobold King he/him Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 To make some grumpy pun about "taking out the trash"? I approve. Some other time, perhaps. I'm sure this won't be the last time Reader makes a slontze out of himself. 1
Comatose he/him Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Unrelated, but I was meaning to ask you: What would Taylor do if she were interrupted by a fellow shapeshifter named Kanye? (I have no intention of introducing another Epic, let alone one named Kanye. I was just curious.) She'd probably morph into this, and then make some comment about letting him finish, but insisting that she is the best Shapeshifter of all time. they just have to fly to be able to avoid falling into the centre of the planet haha Insight could always just choose not to fly traditionally, and just walk. With Insight, I was thinking there was some sort of cognitive thing going on, where he could pass through the earth if he wanted, but as long as he thinks of things as solid, he can still sit on chairs, or walk on the ground, even if he can't move or affect them in any way. I might end with doing some combination of this with zero gravity. I might also separate his 'coginitive space' power, which is rather complex, into two or three more easily defined powers. I'll keep you posted, haha. 1
