Karger he/him Posted November 7, 2019 Posted November 7, 2019 Just now, The traveller said: I always thought that KRs first line of defence comprised of Windrunners and Stonewards.. The Windrunners I have always seen as sock troops, scouts, and forward commanders. Stonewards are (in my view) meat shields. Their job is to just take as much damage as possible and keep fighting anyway. The Dustbringers(in my mind) are middle managers. They don't lead. They don't have vision. They keep everyone motivated and together. 3 minutes ago, The traveller said: And how do you think this works: Kaladin is a great leader. He has managed to instill discipline and gain respect. He looks out for everyone and does his best to keep from harm. However whose job was it to take care of Teft(this is the most pointed example)? They noticed but they had trouble doing much. Bridge four has consistently had trouble with moral. The Lightweavers provide information and spiritual sustenance(inspiration). The Truthwatchers look after everyone physically. The Bondsmiths keep the elements working together. Elsecallers give good advice. Windrunners go out and lead others. Stonewards absorb punishment. Skybreakers keep order. Edgedancers make sure no one is left behind. Willshapers give new ideas. Where is the heart the passion the omf! Dustbringers!
Aon Tia she/her Posted November 7, 2019 Posted November 7, 2019 Kaladin being what he is could be individualistic. The windrunners have resonance but that is atrength of squires. lightweavers get memory etc so none of what you mentioned above fits in with resonances. So, all of that is the roles you think they fulfilled.. even if you are right, spiritual sustenance Is making someone feel stronger or taller or better about themselves or even a form of passive rioting to quote your wording. I think shallan is already doing this. So it is a light weaver ability.. not dustbringers.. 1

Quote Yet, were the orders not disheartened by so great a defeat, for the Lightweavers provided spiritual sustenance; they were enticed by those glorious creations to venture on a second assault. 1
Aon Tia she/her Posted November 7, 2019 Posted November 7, 2019 I think shallan encouraging Vathah gang to go and help the caravan against the other group of bandits, is a form of passive rioting, if there is any in SA. 1
