Nevertheless, I assume Mr. Sanderson's thought process was simply: Feru=Iron=Stand-in for all metals. Chemy, from alchemy, an ancient psuedoscientific mystic art. Therefore, mystic art involving metals. 1
Voidus Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 I always figured it was the study of the chemistry of Kangaroos at a fair (Fair-Roo-Chemy) But yeah my guess is Sanderson probably just thought it sounded better than mettaluchemy or something like that.
happyman he/him Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 From what I remember, Brandon shuffled the names for the three metallic arts before canonically assigning any one to its corresponding actual system. I think he ended up with a decent set of names, but I don't think the names were meant to have any inherent meaning, just useful general connotations in English.
