Kobold King he/him Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 "AUGH NO GET IT OFF GET IT OFF GET IT OFF!!!!" "It's a pug." "AND IT'S TASTING MY FACE!!!!" "Um, Backtrack? I think she just wants you to stop crying, so she's giving you kisses." "THIS SMUSHY-FACED DEMON HAS THE KISS OF DEATH!!!!" If you think Backtrack would be that articulate while being assaulted by a hungry smushy-faced demon, you are quite mistaken. Corrected quote: "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIT'S EATING MEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" 2

Protector Pug would be far more articulate, marching to a safe distance before giving the signature pug sneeze of disdain, then wagging her tail at Sam. 1

Comatose he/him Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 Who's going next in Corvallis? I'd do a Cornucopia post but it'd just be her listening to everyone else really. In other news after 24 straight hours of downloading my new laptop has now loaded 3% of my steam library. I was thinking Converter would be next. If you want a Cornucopia one that would be fine, but probably not necessary if you don't. 1

She turns her back then Rainmaker throws icy wind and hailstones at her. 1
+Slowswift Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 (edited) So school happened and I haven't posted to Astoria in a while. I don't have a lot of time to read or post now either, but is my original plan for Epics to come out and interact with Epics and giant piles of zucchinis still feasible? Edgedancer he/him Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Oh, and here's a comic. Of all of them, only Backtrack sees things in their proper perspective. Some very accurate perspectives. For some reason Arsenal's seems the most entertaining. A minor bit of confusion, if we turn Autumn into a waifu wouldn't the honorific chan make more sense than san? I vote we either let Shiny redeem herself by giving them back, or launch the Funtrack ship by having the good Doctor recreate them for him when he gets back to Portland. Pablo the pug has a new fan. First Autumn rejecting her and then returning a magnificent pair of sunglasses, this will turn into a horrible day for her. So school happened and I haven't posted to Astoria in a while. I don't have a lot of time to read or post now either, but is my original plan for Epics to come out and interact with Epics and giant piles of zucchinis still feasible? Still works, the scene didn't move that fast. (Financier. ) In honor of my progress in WoK, I have composed a small verse of song. Kaladin is awesome! Edgedancer he/him Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 I have not one single foggy piece of a clue what you are talking about. Then why did you use the word san?

Edgedancer he/him Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 (edited) I hope that clarifies your queries. It's more a matter of the japanese language than anime per se... you probably don't care. So just take more memes. Edited May 4, 2015 by Edgedancer 3

Sorry about that. Got a little distracted when my prof used the online grade book to call me a clod. Or at least away from deliciousness.

I'm interested, if you're interested in explaining. We're on the 17th Shard, which is that beautiful 1% of the Internet that does care.

Blaze1616 he/him Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 See, I think the -san would work. After all, she's talking to an Epic with the power to kill her at any moment. Signs of respect are probably more beneficial than signs of affection. Then again, it's Shiny and Autumn...

Okay, san and the like are japanese honorifics similar to Ms, Mrs and Mr in english just a lot more formal, complicated and after the name. The basic ones are: -san: Basic, gender neutral and on the formal side of ends. -kun: Male and more friendly/personal than san. -chan: Equivalent for females and small children, generally on the cute side of ends. -senpai: someone that's been part of something longer than you, like an upperclassman or you senior on a job. -sama: very formal and for very important people and even up to gods. -dono: somewhat archaic, mostly used in the military nowadays I think, between san and sama on the importance scale. -sensei: for respectable jobs like teachers and doctors. And then there's some miscellaneous and informal stuff and for familiy members but that's probably takng it to far. Edited May 4, 2015 by Edgedancer 2

How do the gender-specific suffixes like -kun and -chan work exactly? Do you use -chan if a woman is speaking, or if a woman is the one being spoken to? Also, can we assume Backtrack would use a squeaked "-sama" for basically everyone? 1

It depends on the person you are adressing, so you would be Kobold-kun unless you are so effeminate that we decide to adress you with chan. Did he suddenly turn in an Otaku? (Although it would probably be the standard suffix for High Epics)

Otaku... that means something like "outsider," I think? 3

Otaku... that means something like "outsider," I think? Well then Jared-chin, nice to have Huggums on board. The modern usage isn't really related to the words origin. In the west it's used for anime and manga fans. In japan itself it has a negative conotation for fans in general whose interest have reached obsessive levels, although there it is mostly used with anime and the like as well.

Kobold King he/him Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 O_o Jasnah is a badchull. In three guesses I can tell you what part you're at. Is Shallan getting a philosophy lesson? 1
