Oh Comatose something I remembered the other day while thinking about potential combat applications for Euphoria is a condition called Serotonin Syndrome or Serotonin Toxicity, it was a potential side effect of a combination of meds I was on a while ago before they were switched, but in really severe cases it can cause potentially fatal complication.

Anyway something I thought might be interesting if she ever used her powers combatively.

Mind elaborating on that bit?

Yeah, probably. :P

No. Funtimes hasn't met Big Al yet, but she does know about him from her time in Vancouver. I was thinking Radiance used to berate Super Hotman for his lazy attitude, telling him that "if you were that Epic whose only power is conjuring greasy sandwiches, I could excuse this, but I expect more from you."

As much as I like Big Al, I don't think he's worth having a reputation.

Well, there was that time pony!Lightwards, pony!Nighthound, and pony!Funtimes took over the Third Diamond Dog Kingdom. Maybe in that universe Calamity managed to corrupt Celestia and Luna first? :o

Looking back on it, it's a shame Lucentia wasn't a part of that attack.

(hey, that was my plan! :P)

And you're all just copying my plan.

Would it be outside of Converters powers to stop someone's vocal cords?

And pray, but not to Calamity.

Is she touching them?

Well essentially it's just your brain overdosing on Serotonin, which is potentially one of the ways Euphoria's powers could work so I thought it might be something to look into for potential effects of her using her powers at maximum level on someone as a form of combat.

Would it be outside of Converters powers to stop someone's vocal cords?

I'd probably say yes it is, not only is that a very specific region to stop moving it would also probably stop blood flow and potentially breathing so whoever she did it to would die.

Seems like it would be about as effective as choking a person.

I'm asking this on behalf of Sirce, given that he doesn't really have the time to keep up with the question: How interested are all the factions invading Astoria in organizing themselves to one big group?

Posted

Well the Adventurer's not really an invader type and Bioterror wants to join up so it's not likely that my characters would.

He doesn't have the reputation; it's his powers she's heard about. As minor Epic powers go, they're pretty odd, so I don't think it's too much of a stretch for some Portland Epic to tell some Vancouver Epic that "hey, did you know there's a guy who always has a sandwich in his pocket?" and for the Vancouver Epic to say "That's the most worthless thing I've ever heard" and drop it into a lecture.

This doesn't necessarily need to be right now, just soonish. In our collaboration between the Astorian Government and the Destructors we came up with the idea of a civil war.  Since the Government is so hard to take down, having crazy powerful Epics such as Deathgale, the Metal, Bloody Mary, Winterspell, and Lucentia, just to name a few, it would likely need a large scale war to bring destruction to Astoria.

Perhaps a bunch of Epics in Longview, Washington want to control the river so they can get all of the trade and such.  With Astoria so powerful, they can't achieve that goal.  Now however, with all of the Epics coming in, they see an opportunity and start to contact the new Epics, hoping to make an alliance.

This doesn't need to go into effect now, it doesn't need to happen at all, but this is just an idea that we can look into. I haven't been on the Question thread lately due to a busy schedule in real life, but I will try to check it to see who wants to join.  I don't even need to run it, but I would like to provide some input to whoever wants to head it.

Well as you say given the Metal, Deathgale and Bloody Mary any kind of assault is pretty doomed to failure, you'd need a large-scale teleporter to even be able to escape, if Bioterror does join up that's only going to make things worse. It would be possible to wage war but you'd need a lot of really OP Epics to make it possible.

Oh, I forgot to mention earlier: I had a dream that Obliteration was a wizard in the Potterverse. There's this Apple game where you can "duel" with other fans by drawing patterns that correspond to spells, and Obliteration's "Obliterate" spell was an intricate line drawing of a surprised cat head. Warner Bros. released it as a limited-edition charm for charm bracelets, and I think Ron may have cast the spell by mistake.

Also, Edge, if the Big Al thing is too odd, I can take it out.

With him and Brightdeath Astoria is actually getting more powerful. Things are going in weird directions over here. :P Still waiting for those zucchinis.

If you think it worth talking about it's proven plausible that other people might as well, so keep it.

What would people think is a reasonable length of time for Cornucopia's plants to grow?
I could just keep it as a supportive really long term thing but it does seem a bit unlikely that Calamity would go handing out a power like that so I feel like it would be better if it was a lot faster but then she can essentially have an infinite supply of anything so that'd overpower her a bit.
Thoughts?

Sorry. Evil teacher. Unclear assignment. Condescension when I asked questions. Small panic attack when I submitted it. You know the drill. Zucchinis coming up.

I didn't intend it to be a big deal, more just an Easter egg.

Perhaps you could affect plants to grow at the accelerated rate of 1 month = 1 minute. As such crops would take 3-5 minutes to grow and provide the object she planted? I was also going to propose 1 year = 1 minute, but that seems very fast considering she's mostly growing crops.

Yeah I realized that between Bloody Mary and Brightdeath they can now create portals to pretty much anywhere even if no one else with Bloody Mary's blood is there Brightdeath can just port there.

So now Bloody Mary and Brightdeath can open a portal to pretty much anywhere instantly, the Metal, Bioterror and Deathgale can kill everyone in that place in about 3 seconds and pin down any Epics with a PI to take back with them and then head back home.

Astoria could completely destroy any city in about a minute.

Maybe the first crop goes fast and afterwards the plants need longer intervals to grow new "fruits" plus making it so she can't grow from her own fruits because otherwise she could just neglect that limit.

Well, I wouldn't have been able to write anything this week either with having some tests on my own, so don't worry. ;)

Well, Mary could already kill about 95% of the population if not more before that RP started so it only really matters to the invaders. :P

Talking about their mobility, what about Bioterror's job interview consisting of him and someone else getting send to deal with that shadow tower that's apparently going to appear soon.

As you requested, 40,000 zucchinis.

Thank you. ^_^ How likely is it for the Financier and Bioterror to get burried under the zucchinis? Also:

his eyes prove nothing.

It would be fun to just aniliate a city. Brightdeath can also make a huge forcefield of light around the whole place so nobody could leave.

I don't think any of them officals want to anihilate Astoria in the moment though.

(and for corectness sake, it wouldn't really be a forcefield, given that she doesn't create some kind of energy fields but solid light... which now that I think about it makes her a pretty ideal counter to the league of shadows. )

By the way, Edge, I think I found a suitable icon for Lucentia.

Edit: For the Financier, not likely. He's used to getting out of the way of that sort of thing. Bioterror needs to be careful, though.

And do those look like the eyes of a liar? I….I'm not sure. I'm laughing too hard.

Yeah pretty much any of them could destroy Astoria by themselves but I meant more that say Steelheart sent a lewd poem to Lucentia so she declared war on Newcago. The entire city would be destroyed about 60 seconds after she sent out the orders.

Works for me, probably not the Metal as well though, that might be a bit of overkill. :P

Maybe I should start using icons afterall.

Shingeki no Bahamut, it will be here all internet. :P

My first reaction was, "why would he do that," and then I remembered Scumbag Steelheart. :P

Behold the city of OP getting even more OP. B)

Well, given that's supposed to be his job interview he would literally just sit there and maybe make a couple of quips.

I wondered that too, my thoughts were it went something like:

Steelheart: Another correspondence from Lucentia? What's she whining about this time? Great some server from one of my casinos got snarky with her and she feels that needs my personal attention. Why can't she just kill the idiot and be done with it?

Nightwielder: Because that's just the way she is.

Steelheart: Don't I know it. Sometimes I just want to raze her entire city to the ground.

Nightwielder: You know what would be hillarious? You should send her a lewd poem, it would drive her insane. You know what she's always like. But then if she complains we have a reason to attack their city, win-win.

Conflux: Hey guys, could someone untie me please?

Steelheart: Shut up Conflux. That's an excellent idea Nightwielder! Quickly! Call Fortuity in, I'll need some help with the wording.

Nightwielder: He's still moaning about his car and jumping every time he sees glitter.

Steelheart: Fine, find someone else suitably bawdy, I want this sent as soon as possible!

Oh, come on. Fortuity finds writing dirty limericks to be an excellent stress-relief technique. :P

Fortuity: See guys? I'm totally fine. I'm really completely over what happened with...
*Shudders*
Nightwielder: That might be more convincing if every fourth line of what you've written so far wasn't a plea for Lucentia to kill Funtimes.
Steelheart: Or if you hadn't screamed for half an hour when we showed you a picture and you saw a part of her was sparkling from diamonds.

Fortuity: (Sobbing) Where did you go mr. Hamster? Where did you go!?
Nightwielder: Here he goes again, he's worse than Conflux when he gets like this.
Conflux: Does that mean you'll tie him up instead now?
Steelheart: No.

And this is how Fortuity fell out of grace. :P

Ironically, I'm sure they could bond over their hatred for Funtimes... or at least until Lucentia kills Fortuity.
