Just watched this week's episode of Castle, but last night it was DS9 (in season 5) and Inuyasha (season 2), which I will admit I had never seen purely through my own negligence.

Went to a pre-screening of Tomorrowland on the 20th. I was thoroughly impressed. I don't think it'll crush the box office, since the Marvel movies are sort of drowning out all of the incredibly creative, innovative, beautiful movies that have been coming out the last couple years (2014 in particular.) But I do think it will be one of the big children's movies of the generation. It was beautiful, creative, new, and most importantly, heart was poured into it. You can tell.

It's the successor to the Newsroom, in that it continues the argument for Optimism and Idealism versus Realism. Possibly one of the most important debates of our time.

The movie was visually amazing, the characters except for one I won't discuss were filly realized, the adventure was high (pun intended), the plot was detailed, and the theme is both important, and thoroughly discussed. It was prominent. Which is important, especially for a child-centric audience. When it comes to children's movies, there are many instances where the plot can fall short, as long as their youthful audience can remember their characters, and get the point of the movie. And since children's movies do so well at this so frequently (especially in the last year or so), I don't get why people have such problems with them.

Tomorrowland didn't even come close to falling short with its plot (it was fantastic), but even if it did, the characters were extremely memorable, and the theme was prominent, and both were very well explored. Also, the pacing, and the framework were done very well. All while being a very fun film.

As for tv show, I simply have no idea. It's been a while. I feel deprived, but it's too distracting. Looking forward to Red Dwarf though. If you haven't heard, 11 and 12 are coming in back-to-back seasons in 2016 and 2017. 2016 will be a great year fro tv. Twin Peaks finale, x-Files miniseries, new Red Dwarf, and there's just a lot of good stuff on recently.

Just watched the pilot of Hannibal. Seriously impressed with the mind games, though the gore is probably not worth it.

Crime dramas have been really great lately. Hannibal, Bates Motel, True Detective, Fargo.

Wait, is there something wrong with gore?

As far as my values go, I think Hannibal went way over the line. Granted, it is a story about a cannibal, but I'd rather not go for that much.

At Curosity if you get a chance watch True Detective. It's mostly all shot in my back yard from the look and town names I heard. It's SO epic after the slow ep1 starter.

My show was Star Trek Voyager.

True Detective's first season is one of the best things I have seen on television. that and Fargo.

The author is from my home city Lake Charles, LA which had a few name drops in show. im looking forward to S2 but dreading it's not going to hold a candle next to S1. I hope they come back to Louisiana for another season so I can try to see it filmed.

yesterday I watched MASH (movie and show), and A Few Good Men. All very good, and I'm going to watch that show probably for the rest of my life. I love those characters.

I also watched Mockingjay part I and rewatched the first three Mad Max movies (can't wait to see Fury Road.) I technically watched these most recent since they were right after, but I felt Mash and Few Good Men were more relevant to today.

(And yes, I read some Hitchhiker's Guide for Towel Day, but not nearly as important.)

Also, Legends of Tomorrow starts in 2016.

Over the past week I've watched the final episodes in the current seasons of Arrow, Flash, and Agents of SHIELD. Arrow ended nicely, and I hope they are not going to do a Babylon Five, and renew a properly finished series for another season just because it is popular. That's a great way to kill good sci fi (Babylon Five, Stargate SG-1, for example).

Out of all of these though, I am most looking forward to the new season of Flash.

Also, since I have now ran out of things to watch, I took up a friend's recommendation, and have started watching Once Upon a Time. Fairy tale characters, with their memories wiped, dropped into small town America. I was dubious for the first few episodes, but having binge watched the entire first season over the weekend, I have to say it's proving to be pretty damned good. Add Robert Carlisle as Rumplestiltskin, and you have a recipe for awesome.

Homeland did this. Season three had one of the most beautiful endings, and then they made a really unimpressive season four. Season three would have been an amazing ending for a show.

Supernatural did this to the max. Season 5's ending was amazing, and they have since gone another five seasons, none of which are very good. The thing with them is that they would have been significantly better if they had happened BEFORE that amazing season five finale.

It's really disappointing when this happens to a show you liked.

The last TV show I watched was The Flash, which was pretty awesome - although not quite as awesome as Daredevil, which you all HAVE to watch because it's AMAZING and the acting is WONDERFUL and it's gritty without being depressing and ...

*runs around waving arms aggressively*

The last movie I saw was Mean Girls on Netflix. I had somehow gone 18-and-a-half years without seeing it and I needed to correct this stain upon my honour. I feel much better now.

I'm going to partly disagree with you, Nait. I think that what made seasons 1-5 so good was that they formed a single tightly-plotted arc. You can rewatch almost any episode from those years and see how the story beats and characterisation are building towards the season 5 finale.

Conversely, a major issue with seasons 6+ is that the writers/showrunners don't have an endgoal in mind: they seem to be writing season-long arcs that keep the show going without aiming towards a finale. For example (season 8 spoiler)

Season 8 is easily my favourite of the later seasons, but I think its finale falls a little flat because the writers pulled a lot of contrivances and handwaves to avoid upsetting the status quo. Several characters behaved in arguably out-of-character ways and the story suffered for it.

If the plot of one of the later seasons had been dropped into the middle of S1-5, it would have thrown the pacing way off and made 1-5 less awesome.

Or at least that's my opinion.

So I finally watched the second sin City movie, A Dame to Kill For, and I am apparently in the minority that liked it, and an even smaller minority (I think I'm actually the only one) who absolutely loved it and thought it complimented the first Sin City movie so much that it is unthinkable for me to watch one and not the other. That's how well they fit together, for me. And I have no doubt that when Miller and Rodriguez put out the third one, it'll do the same. They are a perfect pair. It took nine years to come out, which means I waited seven years, since I first watched it in 2007 (several times,) and it was amazing. If there is anyone out there who has seen both and can explain to me exactly why it is that A Dame to Kill For wasn't a perfect addition to the stories in the first one, I'd love to discuss it because I really liked it, and I think these two are my favorite from Rodriguez, especially now that i see what he's doing with this series (it's genius, and I hope that if he and Miller plan to do more movies, they do it the way they did with these two.)

I can't think of a single other series that has done what he is doing, disjointing the narrative and making the two movies' stories interlocking, and each subsequent movie enriching further the events that happened in all the prior films. It's extremely smart, new, fun, and interesting. Not only that, but it actually makes you think ,it makes you try and keep up with what's going on.

So yes, anyone who's interested in discussing the Sin City movies, I'd love to talk about it, I'm itching to discuss A Dame to Kill For.

Finally finished the last season of Once Upon a Time. Goodness. That was an interesting experience.

Last night I finished season two of Once Upon a Time. Interesting finale, and I'm loving Robert Carlisle as Rumpelstiltskin. He makes the show, although I am also impressed with Prince Charming (he's such an idiot), Grumpy, and Red.
