If we show up on his doorstep unannounced with our arms full of delicious homemade baked goods, he'll create the position. Or have us arrested.

He may or may not live in the city next to mine and I may or may not know some people at school in his neighborhood.

By the way, Mailliw, would Edgerunner have ever told Autumn about Ty? Or was that a secret Reader just spilled?

Depends. How long has Autumn lived there again? It also depends on how good of friends the two are.

I'm interested in the precise backstory around Ty, if you're not adverse to giving it. Did he get killed during Edge's Rending?

Well, considering mail-Mi suggested it in a PM yesterday as something Reader could attack her with, I haven't fleshed out anything yet. But the basics are that he was an abusive boyfriend, but she hid that from others around her and even from herself, convincing herself that he did it because he loved her enough to want her to be perfect. When she went through her Rending, her subconscious feelings rose and she killed him. After that, her love for him caused her to feel bad about it and she broke down for days, flying around, but then Koschei showed up and she acted vanilla so as not to be drafted into his group or killed. After his death, she pleaded with Vondra to let her work for him. She hadn't used her powers much during Koschei's reign and so was itching to use them, but also wasn't as prone to give in to the temptation of arrogance they provide.

That was beautiful. :D Now it's time for Backtrack to come in, pronto. :P

Thanks. I really liked that one. Finally someone gets fed up with Reader. Well, someone who's known him for longer than a few minutes.

Well it's better than his other options of being frozen, burned or exploded. :P

I...

When I read your post, Mailliw, I think I had a "Oh. Oh..." Moment. Like, I'd kind  of forgotten how bad things were there and... oh. Right. We laugh about it but oh. Yeah, that made no sense.

But we know these characters. We know how they're bad, yes, but sometimes I just think of them as normal people and sometimes I get tricked into forgetting.

Philosophical moment. Wow.

Weird. At least it's fiction, right?

Yeah, it's hard sometimes to realize that these Epics aren't nice people. With ones like Electro or Timeport, it's easy, but with Edgerunner and Flashpoint, I have a hard time with it. And it's not even that they're bad people. They're just bad Epics. They were good people before but then Calamity twisted them.

I hope for full redemptive arcs for Flashpoint and Edgerunner, even if I know they're unlikely to happen. :(

I don't know if they'd be friends, exactly. Autumn has been in town for about two years, but she has an open door policy--if an Epic wants to talk, she'll listen, but she won't force them to tell her anything. So if Emma ever wanted to get the Ty thing off her chest, Autumn would've been there to listen and offer advice if she wanted it.

Me too. I don't know if they'll be full "face your weakness" redemptive arcs, but with how those two already broke from canon, they will be staying relatively nice. I can think of vague circumstances when brigh their weaknesses and facing them could come into play though.

I know you've posted it before, but what's the basics of the Dalles recent timeline with Koschei's reign and such? I think Emma would be drawn to Autumn's personality and like her as a non-Epic, if not friend, then close acquaintance. Yeah, I think Autumn would know.

You know what would be dreadfully ironic? If the number of nice Epics helped bring about the fall of Oregon more quickly. Being less motivated by self-interests, a scenario might arise that causes the nicer characters to form a massive army of Epics with the intent of protecting the state... but end up destroying it during battles with Lucentia, dark!Paladin, and Sunburst instead.

Wow. That's one of the best ideas we've had for the actual destruction of the state, I think. :P

Koschei came to town in late November two years ago, and was killed in early January. Vondra took power shortly after that, and Autumn left the ranger station in favor of a position with the City Guard not long after.

Edgerunner could actually be one of the founding members of the army--she could walk away from the destruction of The Dalles intent on protecting the rest of Oregon, and could go about contacting as many halfway benevolent Epics as she can. A transition from the snarky City Guard lackey to the battle-scarred leader of an army of Epics would be an interesting character arc for her, theoretically speaking.

Should Reader reply to Edgerunner, or does someone else want to go?

If Reader raises his voice in the next post, Edgedancer and I could justify bringing Game and Backtrack into the waiting room to see what's going on.

Wow. I really, really like that idea. She and Flashpoint would be two of the the leaders/generals of this group, flying at the head of the army. And depending on how things go with the other possible love interest of Emma's, he might join too, which would be fun. And this would give Chi something real to do.

Shall we consider this as one of the possible timelines the RP could follow, then?

So does this mean the possibility of all the vanillas tearing Oregon apart by fighting over Funtimes' pancakes is out?

   I'll see if I can get something up tomorrow. If anyone wants to go before me, say something.

Yes. It's one I really want to happen now. A big plus is that it'd give most of the TT Epics something to do after Thoughttown collapses and Chi would have a real part.

This was her response.

Fun fact: She didn't know your first name when she added the "Jared's" emblem to the inside of the box. Is fate trying to tell you two something? :P
