Edgedancer he/him Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Unrelated, but what say you fine people about namedropping a powerful High Epic called Bandersnatch ruling in Utah? We now know what his powers would be, changing the past... storming retcons...even if the change is for the better... and storm having to buy a new book if you want to actually read that new ending... 1

What retcon are you talking about?
Edgedancer he/him Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/23702-brandon-tweaking-words-of-radiance/ That one. Someone on the topic summarized the changes but that isn't the same as reading it yourself. I also know that this isn't really on topic for here but I just needed to get it out of my system.

Thanks for the link. I'll take a look at it later. In other news, I recreated the Voidus pony: I recreated yours too, Edgedancer, but only in the old creator so the mane's slightly different. 3

I saw that. I don't like changing it now a lot, but it fits Kaladin better, IMO. Weiry posted in that thread with a list of all the changes, including that major one, so you can read it there. I gave up on the Smasher pony until we have further info on the visuals. His profile has a decent amount of information.
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted March 6, 2015 Author Posted March 6, 2015 So you guys are saying that if I ever do get a copy of WoR from the library, it'll have the wrong ending? 1
Voidus Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 I usually get a second copy in paperback anyway so I'm not too fussed, otherwise the spine starts breaking up on your 9 or 10th readthrough
Kobold King he/him Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 So you guys are saying that if I ever do get a copy of WoR from the library, it'll have the wrong ending? Most of the revisions were merely the fixing of minor mistakes. Misspellings, typos and the like. However... there's at least one change that's a little bit more major. It doesn't change the outcome of the book, but it does slightly change the way a certain event unfolded. It's... hard to explain with any more detail than that without spoiling the book.
Kobold King he/him Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 Unrelated: remember this song? "September," the post-apocalyptic pony fan song? Firefight / September spoilers: I just realized it's applicable for an Epic who's just waking up from his Rending. 2

Kobold King he/him Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 Yes. One of mine in particular. I'm pretty sure I know which one. Though that reminds me of a question I've been wanting to ask. Did Quota have a Rending, or is he not powerful enough to have experienced one? 1

Did Quota have a Rending, or is he not powerful enough to have experienced one? I'm not entirely sure. What do you guys think? Do you think Quota is powerful enough for that, or would he have had to make do with faking one? (Because if he didn't have a Rending, he would've gone on a rampage anyway just so no other Epic could say they did something he didn't--and so he could brag about remembering it. No, I haven't changed my mind about killing him. Don't worry. 1

No, I haven't changed my mind about killing him. Don't worry. My impulse is to say no, but since there's not much of an objective standard to measure him by, it's hard to tell. Either way he strikes me as the type who'd go on an immediate rampage upon receiving his powers. Can he affect multiple targets at once? Theoretically, could he affect an entire crowd a la the Lord Ruler? 1

No, I haven't changed my mind about killing him. Don't worry. He's certainly not weak enough that it'd be impossible but also probably not strong enough that it'd be a certainty, I think he could go either way so really just whatever works best for his backstory would be my vote. 1

Theoretically, could he affect an entire crowd a la the Lord Ruler? He could affect those closest to him the strongest. However, if he chose to try and reach the entire crowd, his effect would be greatly diminished; i.e., rather than pushing everyone to suicidal despair, he would more make them all feel rather melancholy. He's certainly not weak enough that it'd be impossible but also probably not strong enough that it'd be a certainty, I think he could go either way so really just whatever works best for his backstory would be my vote. Probably a smallish one, then—though it wouldn't be out of character for him to keep going long after the initial effects wore off. In other words, he'd wake up and instead of saying "What happened—wait, did I kill people?" he'd be more "Woah—I killed people? Yeah! Who's up for Round 2?" 1

I read that in the voice of Diego from Ice Age. Dennis Leary is hereby prohibited from playing Quota in any live-action What Happened in Oregon production. 1

He's not right for that part at all. I mean, he can pull off "wimpy kid with a magic transforming car," but "homicidal Epic who pushes people to suicidal despair while drinking lattes?" Can't see it. 2

Terrible Oregon casting: Shia LeBeauf as Quota Will Ferrel as Lightwards Ben Affleck as Nighthound Kristen Stewart as Funtimes Jonah Hill as Big Al No offence to any individual actors or actresses, but I personally think any of those castings would be awful enough to awaken Nyarlathotep the Crawling Chaos to destroy the cosmos out of sheer disgust. Voidus Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 Kristen Stewart as Funtimes Any casting agent who makes that decision should be fired... out of a canon. 2

Really, Kobold? Really? You take the most expressive Epic in Oregon and cast the only actress with two standard facial expressions? Just for that, I vote we cast Nicolas Cage as Aldo the Enigmatic. 2

Nicholas Cage doesn't have enough eyebrow over both his eyes combined to play Aldo. 1
Voidus Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 Nick Cage might be able to pull off a PP Or it would be terrible and we'd all need several gallons of brain bleach.Kelsey Grammer and David Hyde Pierce could work as Refill and Zip.Neverthere I'm unsure of but possibly Melissa Rauch (Bernadette from the Big Bang Theory) 2
