Because I'm good at hangman...

Neon Genesis Evangelion.

Okay, how about this one:

A man changes his clothes in front of you, then talks about all the people who live near you. He repeatedly asks you to live near him.

He is fond of presenting morality tales with puppets, often featuring a presumptive monarch who likes to be told that he is right.

EDIT: Now deceased, the man's interaction with you has been continued through one of his puppet characters, but in animated form.

EDIT2: Transportation to the puppet show is provided by an iconic red trolley.

Mister Rogers' Neighborhood?

Correct as usual, KamorianKandra.

(Sorry about the delay. Your guess must have posted while I was composing my hint, and I didn't see it until just now. Does it count as being double ninja'd if you don't notice until after going back to edit your post twice?)

I am glad to know I'm not the only one who used to watch that show.

Actually, I've only seen the show once, a few years ago. I don't remember exactly why I was watching it, but I was. Anyways.

A young man leaves his home for many years, and finally returns using a combination of both ancient and modern technology to murder the corrupt in his city.

Red riding hood?

Nope. You're sort of on the right track though. The group is being hunted by the incompetent offspring of a non-human king.

EDIT: Additional hint: The offspring love to swear and their favorite epithet is telling people to taste Legolas. Sort of.

The medium is a miniseries.

Its beauty and the beast isn't?

It is not.

The next hint is a warning to Delightful: it's 6 hours long. And it's a little cheesy, but rather fantastic at the same time.

For a plot-based hint, the golden retriever was not always a golden retriever. He used to be a ruler himself.

...Oh, Lord Ruler help us. Are you referring to The 10th Kingdom? >>

Absolutely. You're up. :)

This is why I shouldn't answer questions if I'm not prepared to come up with a question myself :P

Two extremely unlikely friends attempt to fulfil their dreams together, while a desperate son goes about trying to live up to his father's expectations.
