The biggest thing about Khriss being confirmed as a member of the 17th Shard is that

SH spoilers

She says Yolen is hidden. And Frost is from Yolen, and seems to be in charge of the 17th, per the Letter. How does that all work out? Ugh.

I also want to know how Hoid got the letter to Frost.

I think if Khriss and Nazh were part of the 17S, that we would have more indication those two are overlapping with the organization anywhere. They seem to be operating separately, much like the Ghostbloods seem to be worldhoppers but not necessarily 17S. Worldhopper doesn't automatically signify 17S.

Yeah... I sent that email 3 times. Last April, last June, and last August.

Lost in the mail?

When I asked, I got it within 24 hours. I might just be lucky, but I did mention two things in my request that might help. I said I know it's a rough draft and I know it's not canon. I also mentioned what a fan I am and that I love how much he connects with his readers. Hope that helps.

Also, Brandon specifically said not to share it, so please don't ask me for a copy. I respect his wishes and don't want to spoil him doing things like that for future people. Asking Brandon is easy though, so give it another try. It might just be a timing issue as I'm sure he gets 1000's of e-mails per day.

Who says Frost still lives where he originated from? :)

Frost having moved is certainly an option. I'm kind of curious to find out if Yolen isn't hidden but actually destroyed during the Shattering (or abandoned, for Liar of Partinel plot element reasons).

Depends how you interpret that phrase though. Does worldhopper mean "someone who has ever travelled between worlds", or "someone who routinely travels between worlds"? Seems more sensible to go with the former, but Brandon has been known to deliberately interpret questions to give himself leeway from time to time.

And not being a worldhopper doesn't necessarily mean that he hasn't just moved from Yolen to another world. If the whole population was displaced, I wouldn't call every single one of them worldhoppers.

Brandon has given a clear definition of a Worldhopper. From the Chicago SoS signing:

Q: In your mind, what would constitute a Worldhopper? Is it someone who makes a single trip between worlds (for example, the exodus from Yolen - not that it was an exodus, but a single trip), multiple trips between worlds (such as Hoid), or simply leaving a particular world?

A: Here's the thing. I would call anyone who is aware that there are multiple worlds in the Cosmere and has visited more than one a Worldhopper.

Q: Do they actually have to have made it to a second world?

A: I think that... You're getting at people like- I would say they are a Worldhopper kind-of, but not fully. They're kind of...

Kurk: The Doctor's companion?

A: Yeah, the Doctor's companion type thing. I would define a Worldhopper as someone who has been to another world. I would call someone who has not actually been to another world "Cosmere-aware" but not necessarily a Worldhopper.

Frost is definitely Cosmere-aware, but Brandon does not consider him a Worldhopper; therefore, he has not travelled to another world.

EDIT: Typo. Deer mucus has no place in this thread.

I'm not convinced that Frost is confirmed to lead the 17th Shard. They are referred to as "his friends". Which could mean many things. In fact, if Frost and Hoid can exchange letters, and thus presumably Frost and the 17th Shard too, it makes little sense for Hoid to tell Frost that the 17th Shard is on a false trail if they are obeying Frost's orders in chasing Hoid.

Of course, making little sense doesn't rule it out for Hoid ;) or it could be part of a larger bluff. But I don't think Frost is in the 17th Shard. I think he's strictly non-interventionalist and a conduit for wr readers to garner Cosmere information as a recipient and sender of 2 interesting letters, and that Hoid wants his help

I am being chased. Your friends of the Seventeenth Shard, I suspect. I believe they're still lost, following a false trail I left for them. They'll be happier that way. I doubt they have any inkling what to do with me should they actually catch me.If anything I have said makes a glimmer of sense to you, I trust that you'll call them off. Or maybe you could astound me and ask them to do something productive for once.

Ok, fair enough. Still doesn't make much sense. Frost's reply implies a good relationship, ish, with Hoid, and if Frost IS their boss, Hoid must be planning something by telling him that the trail they are following is false, surely?
