Bort he/him Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 Not professionally, but I build my own and help with friends'. Dare I ask what the worst stormlight pun ever was? 1
Lurthemir he/him Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 I build my own as well, last one I made I bought a GTX 770 a week before the 900 series was released....
JTolman he/him Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 I built in the past but haven't done so in 10 years.

blad3mast3r he/him Posted January 28, 2015 Author Posted January 28, 2015 Oh and a PSU, forgot to put that on. 500w modular.
oddchelonian Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 I built my own PC a couple of years ago, it was the first time I did it, but there were very few issues. From now on, I am likely to build all of my PCs. It was a very fun experience. 1
navybrandt he/him Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 build and upgrade my own for fun I like to mod it with water cooling / overclocking / lighting / etc.
Curious Anamaximder he/him Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 I can modify but not build computers.
Young Bard he/him Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 (edited) Is there somewhere where you learn this sort of thing? I have a basic knowledge of electronics, but understandably don't want to spend a few hundred dollars to buy equipment that I might destroy if I do it wrong. Edited July 21, 2015 by TheYoungBard 2
navybrandt he/him Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 Well, I just read the manuals and figured it out. Start simple and add mods later. You can also try some YouTube videos. It's pretty hard to mess up, so if you have just a little bit of electronics experience, you should be fine.
hopefulmorning she/her Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 I've been wanting to build my own dev box, and have been doing some research into it. Due to a major move coming up for me, I probably won't be able to get started until early next year. When I get closer to making it happen, I plan on keeping a detailed account of the research and processes.
Sera Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 I've been building my own machines for years. The first time I've not built my own computer was recently, when I switched to a laptop—but I customized it, picking every component. I used a local Sager-like company for that, since importing one from the US would be extremely expensive. The local company actually uses rebranded Sager chassis, hah. I learned the basics about hardware, maintenance, and how assemble/disassemble computers from my father, so you can say I have some undue advantage here. 1
+Slowswift Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 I'd love to build my own, if I had the time or the money to acquire parts.
Charononus Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 I used to build my own, but I've been using a laptop for about 9 years now since I became disabled. Sitting at a desk is hard for me comfort wise so a laptop is a must and you can't really build them, though you can modify some of their equipment.
sydefekt Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 Hi! I am a new poster but longtime reader and fan. I just wanted to say Hi to you all, and share my "Stormlight" PC build to my fellow Sanderson fans and PC builders. I attached pictures to this post, hopefully they display properly. For more details, the build is also at: https://pcpartpicker.com/b/yrZ8TW My best regards to eveyone 2
mattig89ch he/him Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 (edited) I know I'm a bit late to the party, but I build my own rigs every 5-6 years. Lets me play everything on high to medium graphical settings that comes out for that time. Heres my next pc: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/btPygL. Let me know if you have any questions about my part choices. Edited September 21, 2016 by mattig89ch Added part list URL

Agreed. You have to make sure the parts you buy are compatible with your system. And older systems are alot harder to find compatible parts for.
