Eagle of the Forest Path he/him Posted June 1, 2016 Posted June 1, 2016 Fine by me. Though Minerva was actually the Roman version of Athena. Artemis got turned into Diana.
Sunbird she/her Posted June 1, 2016 Posted June 1, 2016 Jupiter = Zeus Juno = Hera Apollo both Roman and Greek Mars Minerva = artemis Neptune Vespasian was worshipped in Pompeii ......good enough? As a Percy Jackson fan, I can help with this Mars = Ares Neptune = Poseidon Mercury = Hermes Venus = Aphrodite Bacchus = Dionysus (I always have trouble figuring out how to pronounce the Greek version of this guy--is it die-AWN-uh-sis or die-oh-NYE-sis or what?) Pluto = Hades Vulcan = Hephaestus

Sunbird she/her Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 I'm definitely not going to be able to come up with 10 unique works, but let's see how far I get with the potions... 1. Felix Felicis (Harry Potter) 2. Polyjuice Potion (ditto) 3. Draught of Living Death (ditto) 4. Veritaserum (ditto) 5. Wolfsbane (ditto) 6. Aging Potion (ditto) 7. Skele-Gro (does this count as a potion? I was never clear in the book whether it was something Madame Pomfrey brewed up or what...) 8. Voldemort's resurrection potion (the one at the end of Goblet of Fire--can't remember the official name of it) 9. Heart-fire (Uprooted by Naomi Novik) 10. Stone potion (ditto--this one isn't referred to as anything more specific in the book) Soooo... I came up with 10, but I'm not sure if I really succeeded. XD
Sunbird she/her Posted June 6, 2016 Posted June 6, 2016 I was kinda waiting for judgement on whether I actually succeeded in naming 10 potions, since I couldn't actually remember the names of some of them. Delightful Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 No ones done this for a while so here goes nothing: biblical kings: 1. Pharaoh was drowned 2 King Saul fell on his own spear 3 King Eglon was stabbed in the stomach Sanderson: 4 assassinated by shardblade (darn. That's a few kings but I can only count it once) general methods (does this count?) 5 poison 6 hanging 7 guillotine 8. Was Galbatorix eaten by Saphira? anyone want to give me a hand here?
Chandrian Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 (edited) From the Bible: 9. King Herod was eaten alive by parasitic worms put in his food. 10. Warrior King Ablimech was beaten over the head with a millstone by a random woman as he walked into the room she was hiding. 11. King Ahab was shot by a solider while posing as a foot solider to avoid assassination (if that isn't ironic, I don't know what is) From Fever Cumb: 12. The King of London (can't remember his name) is crushed by a 5 ton keg of beer 13. The Lord of Madaya is killed by a reanimated cyborg with a minigun Edge Chronicles: 14. Waif Golderayce of Riverrise is killed after his own blow dart hits him in the head 15. Most High Academe Vilnix is killed by his own servant pushing him off a cliff. Edited June 15, 2016 by Chandrian 1
Delightful Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 I remembered the eaten-by-insect-in-brain story but I wasn't sure if it was a Roman general or a Caesar or what.

Inheritance spoilers: IIRC, Galbatorix committed suicide after realizing what a horrible person he was. I can add another method of assassination: the death of Maldor in Brandon Mull's Beyonders trilogy (more spoilers): A mountain collapsed on him after a large deposit of orantium deep in the mountain was exposed to air and exploded like sodium metal and water. 1
Darkness Ascendant he/him Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 So. What'es the next one? I'm bored here at school. Geometry
Sunbird she/her Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 Hmm... WLIU name 15 languages--real or fictional is fine.
